Chapter 1490: Trial of Dominance [Part 2] (Dragon Bonus)
Villain Ch 1490. Trial of Dominance [Part 2] (Dragon Bonus)
A rune-etched fist slammed into Allen’s barrier, shattering it. He flew backward, back cracked against a jagged column of obsidian. His HP dipped. Hard.
HP: 73%
‘Yeah… that hurt,’ he thought, wincing. It was far more punishing than any boss fight he’d faced before—like the game itself wanted to carve the lesson into his bones.
Pain lanced through his shoulder. Real pain. Not the simulation. He tasted blood in his mouth, metallic and bitter.
But he grinned.
“Oh, you’re fun.”
The Echo roared. A deafening, distorted fusion of five different voices. Then it cast [Hellfire Rain].
His spell.
Allen’s eyes widened as the sky ripped open, and a cascade of molten flame began to fall.
He rolled, dove behind one of the broken shrine pillars as fire slammed into the platform. Everything shook. The stone boiled beneath the heat. The smell was suffocating—charred, sulfuric, almost alive.
His armor melted at the edges. His cloak was in tatters.
If he stayed defensive, he’d die.
Allen sprinted through the fire, screaming in his mind as damage numbers blinked wildly.
HP: 61%
He slammed into a nearby darkness shrine with his shoulder, shattering it.
[System Alert: Enemy Adaptations Reset]
The Echo staggered. Glitched.
Allen charged, using that tiny window.
He slashed—once, twice. The third strike he faked, only to pivot and kick the Echo in the chest with both feet. It flew. He followed mid-air, flipped his sword in a reverse grip, and slammed it down onto its chest.
It shifted again—into the Mirror Revenant. The blow hit nothing.
Allen’s foot met empty space, and he fell—landed hard with a crack of his knee against stone.
Pain flared white-hot behind his eyes.
And then the Revenant form mirrored him.
It pulled a Demonic Lance.
Allen let it come. He ducked just slightly, tanked the shoulder hit—and grinned.
“Gotcha.”
Abyssal Descent.
The sky exploded.
A black vortex tore through the atmosphere above, shrieking with unholy whispers. Tendrils of shadow snaked out like monstrous fingers, reaching down.

And Allen descended with them.
Sword leading. Cloak torn. Power screaming through every muscle.
He hit the Echo with the force of a meteor.
The entire platform shattered. Chains holding it together snapped. Debris spun into the void. A quake ripped through the battlefield as if the world itself recoiled.
And Allen still wasn’t done.
As the Echo writhed, shifting forms wildly to stabilize, Allen charged—limping slightly, blood dripping from his nose—and stabbed through its shoulder.
“Stay in one form, you cheating bastard.”
The Echo retaliated with Dark Storm. Allen lifted his blade and screamed, “NOPE!”, launching a desperate Telekinesis Blast at its casting hand, interrupting it mid-animation.
The Echo staggered.
Allen shoved his sword deeper.
And then he twisted.
The Echo let out a scream that wasn’t a sound, but a sensation—a rumble in the bones. In the soul. In the game itself.
And then it shattered.
Light. Shadow. Everything. Gone.
Nothing but black shards and flickering code.
Silence.
Real silence.
Allen dropped to one knee, his sword buried point-down in the scorched stone, steam rising off his shoulders. His body trembled—not from fear, but from adrenaline, from the sheer strain.
He laughed. Just once. Bitter. Triumphant.
Blood filled his mouth. His hands ached. His chest rose and fell like a broken bellows.
[First Trial Complete – Time Remaining: 0:07]
Light fractured around him, warping into sharp tendrils of color before it collapsed into black. Allen’s body twisted mid-air as the abyssal battlefield tore away from his senses—like falling through a thousand layers of broken glass and silence.
And then he hit the ground.
Hard.
He landed on one knee, a grunt escaping his lips as the world returned in full force—sound, smell, weight. Stone. Cold, ancient, dust-covered stone beneath his palm. Dim torchlight flickered across the carved walls around him, casting long shadows that danced like spirits along the cryptic markings.
Allen coughed, tasting iron and ash. His chest rose and fell with effort, every breath dragging through lungs that felt too tight.
“…Wow,” he muttered hoarsely, tilting his head back and staring at the high, dark ceiling. “So intense for a first trial.”
His body screamed in protest with every tiny shift. The aches weren’t fake—they were earned. Even in the protective shell of VR, some things translated too well. He could still feel the heat of that last Hellfire Rain burning beneath his skin, the echo of the Echo’s blade biting into his shoulder.
He reached into his inventory with stiff fingers and pulled out a crimson elixir—one of the strong ones. He popped the cork with his teeth and drank.
It burned going down. Bitter. Too thick. Like swallowing syrup laced with ghost peppers and gravel. His throat protested.
[HP +140,000]
[DP +12,000]
His bars surged up, but they didn’t fill all the way.
Allen looked at the bottle like it had betrayed him. “Seriously?”
He leaned back against the stone wall, letting his head rest there for a second. His hair was damp with sweat, clinging to his temples. A faint buzzing filled his ears like static—it was adrenaline wearing off.
Then—
“You have returned,” came the NPC’s voice, calm and unreadable.
The cloaked figure appeared once more in front of him. No footsteps. No shadow. Just… there.
Allen pushed himself to stand and cracked his neck.
The figure gave a slight bow. “You have completed the first of three,” he announced.
Allen sighed through his nose. “That thing nearly turned me into digital pulp.”
“The Trial of Domination is meant to push your cognitive adaptability and strategic depth. Few reach this point. Fewer still survive.”
Allen arched a brow. “And the next one?”
The figure raised a hand.
A glowing interface appeared in front of Allen, flickering with dark runes and system script. Three notches. One now lit with a deep red glow.
