Chapter 1492: Trial of Will [Part 2]
Villain Ch 1492. Trial of Will [Part 2]
He moved forward, this time slower, more alert. His boots scraped against the stone, and he kept his left hand hovering, ready to cast a barrier again.
The walls to his right suddenly shifted. Not subtly—no, the stone slid with a thunderous rumble, sealing off the path he’d just walked through.
[Environmental Shift Detected – Recalculating Map… Map Not Available]
[Reminder: There is no map. Only the maze.]
Allen stopped walking and raised both hands in the air, exasperated. “Okay, we get it. ‘Only the maze.’ This whole crypt is like a middle-school poetry contest.”
A light flared in the distance—a faint purple flicker, just for a second. It pulsed again. Faint, rhythmic. Like a heartbeat. He squinted.
“A shrine,” he muttered. His gut twisted. “Or a trap.”
He stalked toward it.
As he moved, he began feeling the rhythm of the maze. The fog wasn’t just a visual effect—it breathed. It swirled with intent. When he moved too fast, it thickened. When he paused, it waited. Watching. He was being studied.
He approached the shrine carefully, noting the corpses hanging from chains nearby. They weren’t twitching. Yet.
“Alright, let’s do this smart.” He pulled a rock from his inventory and used Telekinesis to float it forward. Light as a feather. He guided it into the fog, past the corpse cluster near the shrine.
As soon as it crossed the threshold…
-BOOM!
Three corpses exploded in a chain reaction. The sound was deafening. Fire, bone, and red mist painted the corridor. Allen stepped back behind a pillar just in time to avoid the splash.

[Area Clear: Proceed to Shrine]
“Telekinesis for the win,” he muttered, lips twitching into a small smirk. “That’s one for me.”
He reached the first Binding Totem. It was taller than he expected—about seven feet high, shaped like a coiled spine of obsidian with blood-red runes glowing across the surface.
[Binding Totem – Active]
[Destroy to weaken the Warden]
“Demonic Lance.”
A crimson spear of pulsing magic formed in his hand and launched forward, slamming into the totem. The runes flickered violently.
“Hellfire Rain.”
He raised both hands, fire spiraling from his fingertips as burning meteors slammed down onto the shrine. The totem cracked, then shattered into ash.
[Binding Totem Destroyed: 1/5]
“Alright. One down. Four to go. Still alive.” He checked his debuff timers. They were stacking. Even just standing here was a punishment.

“Awesome. I’m gonna die slowly if I don’t keep moving.”
Another corpse groaned nearby. Then two more.
Allen didn’t wait. He drew a deep breath, channeled mana, and hit them all at once.
“Dark Storm.”
A vortex of black energy whipped out from his body, howling like a banshee in a blender. It caught the three corpses in its radius and lifted them into the air. They exploded before they could get close.

“Yeah, try sneaking up on me now, you moldy bastards.”
He ducked into another corridor as the walls rumbled again. This one was narrower. Coffins lined either side, but he didn’t trust them. He floated another stone ahead with Telekinesis, keeping his distance.
When the orb passed the fourth coffin, it rattled.
Then six corpses burst out at once.
They didn’t explode. These ones ran.
“Oh for f—”
He turned on his heel and ran.
Every step was heavier now. His knees burned. His vision pulsed. The debuffs were stacking to the point he felt like he was running underwater.
He rounded a corner and spotted another shrine—this one guarded by at least a dozen coffins forming around it.
He didn’t hesitate.
“Abyssal Descent!”
The ground cracked open beneath the shrine as chains of black flame erupted outward, dragging screaming phantoms into a spiral of demonic power. The mobs didn’t even have time to react.
Everything vanished in fire and shadow.
The second totem shattered in the chaos.
[Binding Totem Destroyed: 2/5]
Allen slumped forward slightly, panting. His health bar was still high—thanks to good timing and barrier usage.
He moved faster now, weaving through corridors, dodging randomly shifting walls and luring explosive corpses into position with floating rocks. Each encounter had to be earned—he couldn’t just blow through everything. If he did, his regen wouldn’t keep up.
He found the third and fourth totems close together, hidden behind false walls. A lucky side corridor revealed them.
This time, he used a combo—float the corpses away, snipe them with Demonic Orbs, and then unload on the totems with a smart weave of Demonic Lance and Hellfire Rain. Efficient. High damage. Mana-optimized.
By the time the fourth totem crumbled, the fog itself started screaming.
A horrible, rising wail tore through the crypt, vibrating the walls. Allen covered his ears and staggered as the maze began to collapse inward. Stone cracked. Coffins shattered. The ceiling began to shift.

[Final Totem Must Be Destroyed Within 3 Minutes]
[Warning: Fog Debuff Now at Maximum]
Allen’s legs burned. His casting was slow. But he moved.
He used everything. Barrier to block falling debris. [Telekinesis] to throw coffins aside like cardboard. He didn’t even stop to kill the adds—they weren’t the point anymore.
The fifth totem stood in the heart of a sunken chamber, surrounded by corpses and rot. Allen didn’t hesitate.
He threw two Demonic Orbs, staggered them, then combo’d Dark Storm with Soul Siphon, draining life as he blasted the totem into dust.
[Binding Totem Destroyed: 5/5]
The fog screamed louder—and then it retreated. All at once. Like a tide pulled back before a tsunami.
Allen stood in the center of the broken chamber, breathing heavily.
Chains rattled in the distance.
From the far end of the chamber, a towering figure stepped into view. Clad in rusted armor and wrapped in barbed chains, its face was hidden behind a skull-shaped mask, eyes glowing with red fury.

[Boss Fight Begins]
Allen exhaled. “Finally,” he said, lifting one arm as hellfire gathered at his fingertips. “I was getting bored of walking.”
