Allen didn’t slow.
“Come on, then.”
She vanished. He did too.
-CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Their blades clashed in a storm, sparks flying, each strike threatening to break steel. She feinted, disappeared again.
He didn’t look—he just threw his sword behind him.
It sank into her mid-air.
She coughed once and crumpled.

[Timer: 7:58]
He sprinted out of the tunnel as the fortress shuddered. Cracks split across the ground. Flames rose along the walls. The Core pulsed at the center of a shattered throne room—massive, crystalized red energy radiating malice.
[Fortress Core – HP: 1,000,000]
Turrets locked onto him. Drones screamed to life. Red lasers began charging.
Allen smirked.
“Abyssal Descent!”
The ceiling tore open, black flame and chains raining down like divine punishment. They wrapped around the Core, crushing it, holding it in place.
Allen surged forward—wings of fire at full spread.
Skill Chain!
“Hellfire Rain… Telekinesis Blast… Demonic Orbs!”
He dodged cannon fire mid-sprint, curved a Telekinesis-launched drone into another drone, exploded two with a single orb, and slammed his sword into the Core’s exposed heart.

The crystal cracked—and then exploded in a soundless burst of red light.
Ash rained from the ceiling like snow.
Silence.

His wings flickered. His body still glowed from the demonic transformation.
He chuckled. “Yeah… Hell’s definitely still in line.”
Allen lowered his sword slowly, his fingers still humming from the final strike. His body ached all over—his limbs felt heavy, his lungs burned from the sulfur-laced air, and there was a faint copper tang on his tongue from biting down too hard when that last turret clipped his side.
He didn’t care. He won.
Before the dust had even settled, the trial’s completion glyph bloomed under his boots, glowing with deep purple light. The moment his foot was fully centered—
-Yank!
A now-too-familiar pull gripped his whole body—bones compressed, lungs squeezed, vision twisted like water being funneled through a straw.
And then—
-WHAM!
Allen landed back-first with a thud in the stone chamber. Again.
His head bounced once off the cold floor before he lay flat, staring up at the flickering torchlight on the ceiling. He didn’t even groan this time. Just… stared.
“Y’know,” he muttered after a long beat, “at this point I feel like they’re doing it on purpose.”
He pushed himself to sit upright. His cloak was scorched again. His sword was still glowing faintly, humming low like it had a heartbeat of its own. And standing right where he always was—like a creepy screensaver that refused to change—was the cloaked figure.
Allen raised a hand and pointed at him. “Hey. Just once. Just once. Couldn’t you say, ‘Hey, Your Majesty, great job! Want a warm towel and some cocoa?'”
The figure said nothing. Just stood there in silence, the shadows of his hood hiding whatever expression might’ve been there—if any.
Allen groaned and rolled his neck with a few loud cracks. “Alright. What now? No secret final boss? No sudden twist where it turns out this whole thing was a tutorial? Please tell me I’m done.”
“You have completed the Trial of Ruin,” the figure intoned, voice as hollow and echoing as ever. “You have conquered flame, storm, and shadow, and shattered the Fortress Core within the appointed time.”
Allen saluted sarcastically. “Cool. Do I get a T-shirt?”
There was a beat of silence before the system pinged.

The air shifted.
Purple-black energy rippled out from the stone beneath him, curling around his boots and wrapping him in a gentle pressure that pulsed like something alive. He stood slowly, eyes wide as his HUD flashed in front of him.

Allen actually laughed. “Okay, this I’ll take. You had me with ‘throne.'”
The figure remained silent, as always, but Allen swore he could feel the air shift slightly—like even the trial’s gatekeeper was impressed.
He paced a few steps, then turned and gave the figure a once-over. “So… that’s it for Tier 4, huh? No sudden twist? No ‘surprise boss fight with your childhood trauma’?”
“There is nothing more this chamber can give you,” the figure said. “You have surpassed what was required. You have shaped your own trial.”
Allen crossed his arms. “Right. So the next stop is the final tier. The real endgame.” He smirked.
The figure’s silence held for a breath longer than usual.
Allen tilted his head. “That almost sounded like a compliment. You okay? Need a potion?”
Still no reply.
“Yeah, thought so.” He grinned.
“You are prepared.”
There was a pause.
“…Thanks,” Allen said, voice lower this time. Less sarcasm. More sincerity. “Seriously.”
The figure didn’t reply.
Allen stared at him for a beat, then rubbed the back of his neck. “So… what happens now? I just walk out the glowing door? Ascend into badassery?”
A new glyph lit up on the far wall. The stone groaned and pulled apart slowly, revealing an archway filled with swirling purple light.
Allen squinted at the portal. “I mean, yeah, that’s a yes.”
Just as he took a step toward it, a deep chime rang through the chamber—low, urgent, and unfamiliar. His HUD glitched for half a second, and then a glowing red notification appeared in the center of his vision.
