Chapter 1521: False Hope [Part 1]
Villain Ch 1521. False Hope [Part 1]

Allen revved the throttle gently, guiding his sleek black motorcycle through the calm streets, Vivian pressed warmly against his back, her arms wrapped snugly around his waist. It was a familiar feeling—the comforting of her embrace. But, something felt different. Off. Like an itch at the back of his mind he couldn’t quite scratch.

They rolled smoothly through the streets, the city around them alive with the soft hum of traffic and the distant murmur of pedestrians. Allen could smell the faint aroma of street food wafting through the crisp evening air, mingling with the subtle fragrance of Vivian’s perfume.

But no matter how familiar and comforting all of that felt, Allen’s mind kept drifting elsewhere. He’d spent the past hour replaying that lunch conversation with Mila over and over. He’d thought he was just being polite—friendly, even—but now, with some distance, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he might’ve said too much.

Mila wasn’t just anyone. She was Mila Stoutforge. Heiress. Model. A woman from a family deeply intertwined—and not always peacefully—with his own. Allen knew better than anyone that business empires weren’t built on casual conversations over steak and lemon water. Yet, he’d left her smiling softly at him, a faint blush coloring her cheeks, her eyes bright with something he was afraid to put a name to.

Allen shifted uncomfortably on the bike, hands tightening around the handlebars. He knew he’d given her hope—even if he didn’t promise her anything directly, his words carried weight. Mila was too smart not to notice.

Because truthfully, Allen knew he wasn’t in any position to promise anyone anything right now. He’d only just stepped into his role as the new young master of the Goldborne empire, and the expectation was already heavier than he’d anticipated.

Gaming was one thing; he’d grown up around games, mastering strategies and guild dynamics effortlessly. But translating that into business was entirely different. An entirely new meta he hadn’t studied. Numbers and strategies, yes—but also relationships, politics, legacy. His father had barely begun training him, and Allen had only the vaguest sense of what he was really stepping into.

The motorcycle slowed to a smooth halt at a red light, the engine’s gentle rumble vibrating comfortingly beneath him. Allen stared straight ahead, mind lost in thoughts, oblivious for a moment to the hum of life around him.

Then Vivian’s voice broke through, soft and curious. “Thinking about something?”

Allen stiffened slightly, surprised. He glanced briefly over his shoulder, catching her reflection in his side mirror. Vivian’s eyes twinkled knowingly beneath the helmet visor.

“How do you know?” Allen asked, trying—and failing—to keep his voice casual.

Vivian chuckled softly, hugging him tighter. “Allen, your shoulders tense up every time your brain goes into overdrive. You ride like you’re going into a PvP match or something.”

Allen huffed lightly, shaking his head with a rueful smile. Of course she’d notice. Vivian always noticed. He should’ve known better than to try hiding from her.

“Yeah,” he admitted after a brief hesitation. “Maybe a bit.”

The light flicked green, and Allen twisted the throttle again, easing the motorcycle forward through the intersection. They cruised down a tree-lined avenue, the leaves rustling overhead in the cool breeze.

Vivian’s voice was gentle when she spoke next, almost drowned out by the soft growl of the engine. “Is it about Sophia?”

Allen shook his head immediately, almost relieved. “No, surprisingly. It’s… Mila.”

Vivian paused. “Mila?”

“Yeah,” he said quietly.

Allen’s voice barely rose above the steady hum of the motorcycle, his thoughts still tangled in everything he hadn’t said to Mila.

“It was about… the possibility,” Allen continued, letting the words roll out slowly, like peeling bandages. “The chance that maybe we could work together—so our families don’t have to be rivals anymore.”

Vivian shifted slightly behind him, still holding on, but he could feel her posture straighten. Listening. Always listening.

“I told her it could happen. That the door’s open,” he added. “And it is. Technically. But… you know. It’s easier said than done.”

“Mm,” Vivian murmured, not interrupting, just encouraging him to keep going.

“I’m thinking,” Allen said, tone rougher now, “if I gave her too much hope—hope I can’t deliver—I’m gonna disappoint her. Like badly.”

They slowed again at another red light. The glow washed across Allen’s face, painting his features in warm gold and sharp shadows. Behind him, Vivian rested her chin lightly on his shoulder, voice soft but clear. “But you already said this isn’t something you can decide on your own.”

Allen nodded. “Yeah, but… you saw her eyes, right?”

Vivian stilled.

“And don’t lie,” Allen added, finally glancing at the mirror. “I saw the way you exchanged glances with her a few times.”

Vivian burst into a soft laugh. “Oops. You caught me.”

Allen cracked a small smile. “You’re not subtle, Viv.”

“You’re just too sharp for your own good,” she teased, nudging him playfully with her helmet. “Seriously, you notice everything.”

He chuckled under his breath. The light turned green, and they took off again, the tires gliding smooth over the pavement.

“But yeah,” Vivian said after a beat. “I saw her eyes.”

Allen didn’t reply, letting her fill the silence.

“She’s in deep. Like… down-bad obsessed, Allen. You don’t see eyes like that on someone who’s just mildly interested. She’s not just thinking about business alliances or family legacy. She’s thinking about you.”

Allen exhaled hard. “That’s what I was afraid of.”

Vivian tilted her head. “Why?”

“Because she’s falling for a guy who doesn’t even know what he’s doing with his life yet,” he said, tone flat. “I’ve been in this ‘young master’ position for what? A couple of months? My dad’s barely had time to walk me through half the departments. And the gaming division is a whole beast on its own. Yeah, I know games, but only from the player side. Not publishing. Not monetization strategies or PR disaster plans. I barely know the difference between a soft launch and an open beta from a business POV.”
