Chapter 1529: Into The Darkness
Villain Ch 1529. Into The Darkness

The tension was thick now. Not the playful kind that buzzed before a boss fight. This was heavy—like the air itself didn’t want them to keep going.

They descended the newly revealed spiral staircase, boots clanking against aged obsidian steps slick with condensation. Dim purple glyphs pulsed faintly on the walls, and every few steps, the cave seemed to groan, like something ancient had just stirred in its sleep.

[Quest Progression: 25% -> 30%]

[The Abyss watches. Your trespass is not welcome.]

As they reached the base of the stairwell, a blast of hot air met them—followed by a roar. Not like the ones from before. This was deeper. More violent. Like an angry volcano trying to speak.

Before they could even adjust, the next wave came.

Draconic Warden – Abyssal Variant <Lv. 256>

Voidscale Reaver <Lv. 254>

Nightmaw Serpent (Elite) <Lv. 259> x2

There were seven total, waiting in the shadows.

And they weren’t just stronger—they were smarter. They flanked fast. They moved in tight formation. One charged head-on, while another circled to flank.

Allen didn’t hesitate.

He stepped in front of the group, cloak whipping behind him as he summoned his barrier with a flick.

[Skill Activated: Barrier]

A shimmering dome of violet energy expanded out, absorbing the first magic blast from the Voidscale Reaver. The impact cracked the barrier but didn’t break it. The girls spread out behind him, launching into formation—Larissa and Zoe to the right, Jane summoning skeletal cover behind, and Shea above the rest in mid-air, her feathers already glowing.

But Allen didn’t wait.

He charged.

His boots dug deep into the stone floor, his body lowering slightly as he picked up speed like a charging beast.

He didn’t activate a skill. Not yet. Not when his sword was what truly mattered here.

Because these dragons? They were packed with magic resistance.

But they bled like everything else.

The first Nightmaw Serpent lunged. Fast. Jaw open. Gleaming fangs. Too late.

Allen slid under it—knees scraping stone—and thrust upward, his sword carving into the soft underbelly as the momentum carried him through.

Blood sprayed, black and hot, as the beast recoiled with a screech.

Allen didn’t stop. He pivoted mid-roll and lunged again. His blade flashed once, twice, and then he used a skill.

“Telekinesis Blast!”

He launched himself into the air with a sudden psychic thrust, flipping above the wounded serpent in a graceful, almost unnatural arc. The wind howled around him as he twisted mid-air, his cloak snapping like a banner of war. Then—he dropped.

Blade-first.

The obsidian sword slammed into the base of the serpent’s skull with a deafening CRACK, splitting bone and cartilage like it was paper.

A shockwave rippled outward, sending dust and shards flying. The dragon let out a deep, guttural roar that turned into a sickening gargle as its body seized violently. Muscles twitched. Claws scraped at nothing. Then it collapsed—hard—shaking the entire cave floor as its lifeless eyes dimmed into black.

[Nightmaw Serpent Defeated +8 Shards Acquired]

Another one came from the side—Voidscale Reaver, wings flaring wide, casting a dark shield to protect its flank as it launched a volley of corrupted spikes.

Allen sidestepped mid-air with a short-range Void Mirage, his illusion eating the hit. He landed in front of the beast and—without breaking stride—slammed his sword into the shield.

It held for a second.

Then shattered under the pressure.

Allen followed through with a brutal three-strike combo—left sweep across the chest, upward slash from hip to jaw, and a final twist to plunge the sword straight into the eye.

The Reaver shrieked and collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut.

[Voidscale Reaver Defeated +6 Shards Acquired]

“Allen’s not even using half his skills,” Bella muttered from behind, watching in a mix of awe and horror.

“He doesn’t need to,” Alice said softly. “He’s letting the blade speak.”

Another serpent coiled behind him, jaws wide.

Allen didn’t even look.

He spun on instinct, sword trailing behind, and activated Demonic Orbs—three of them burst from his body mid-swing, slamming into the serpent’s neck and chest.

As it staggered from the impact, Allen jumped, using the creature’s snout as a launch pad to leap above its head.

“Soul Siphon.”

A chain of writhing black energy stabbed into the back of the beast’s skull, and he dragged its life force out as he brought his blade down.

It didn’t even scream this time. Just dropped, dead on impact.

[Nightmaw Serpent Defeated +9 Shards Acquired]

Allen’s cloak was soaked. His hands were slick with blood. But his grip never slipped. Every step, every pivot, every movement was methodical, like someone who’d studied every motion for years.

The girls finished off the last remaining Warden with a combo blast—Zoe’s Tsunami slammed it off-balance while Vivian, Larissa, and Jane tag-teamed with blood spears and exploding skeletons. It took three seconds. Four, tops.

And then… silence.

Except for Allen.

Standing in the middle of the carnage. His sword dripping. Breathing slow.

A new rumble shook the chamber.

Jane looked around. “Did anyone activate something?”

“No,” Zoe said slowly. “I think—”

The floor collapsed.

The entire platform beneath their feet cracked like a dropped plate.

“MOVE!” Allen shouted.

He leapt forward and tackled Vivian first, shoving her across a narrow ridge. The others scrambled—Shea flew, Bella kicked off a ledge, Larissa blinked into mist-form to reappear safely.

The main stone bridge crumbled down into the void, roaring into darkness like it was being eaten.

Allen landed hard, feet skidding near the edge.

They all stared over the side, catching their breath.

“…Did we just avoid a death trap?” Bella asked, panting.

“No,” Allen said. “We triggered one.”

But something glowed below. Deep in the pit.

A narrow set of carved steps, half-buried in stone, led into an abyssal corridor laced with black roots and pulsing crystal veins.

And then—another ping.

[Hidden Path Discovered: Descent to Tier 2 Trial – ‘Abyssal Bloodline: Claim What Sleeps’]

Vivian stood beside Allen, hands on her hips. “Well, I guess we’re going deeper.”

Allen didn’t speak for a moment.

He was staring down into that chasm.

At what came next.

At what he was becoming.

“…Yeah,” he finally said. “Let’s finish what we started.”

And with that, he jumped into the dark.

Sword first.
