Chapter 1560: Out of Your League
Villain Ch 1560. Out of Your League

Allen raised an eyebrow, wiped his forehead, and turned away.

Then came the pair near the treadmill.

Matching sports bras. Matching hair flips. One of them leaned forward way too far to check her shoelaces—directly facing him—with her cleavage practically spilling like it was a live demo. She gave a soft gasp when she realized his gaze swept in that direction, then giggled and said something to her friend, clearly not sorry.

Allen pressed his lips into a flat line.

Goddammit. Gerry was right.

Golden retriever energy was a freaking curse.

He walked back toward the bench, grabbed his towel, and threw it over his shoulder.

“I swear,” Allen muttered as he approached Gerry, who was now sipping water like he was watching the world’s most entertaining slow-burn rom-com. “We need to settle this. Fast.”

Gerry raised an eyebrow, amused. “Settle it?”

Allen leaned forward, dropping his voice. “Yeah. This is getting annoying.”

Gerry tilted his head, smirking. “Right. Settle it.”

Allen squinted. “Wait—what’re you planning?”

Gerry held up a hand. “Relax. I got you.”

Allen’s danger senses flared—but it was too late. Gerry was already striding off like a man on a mission.

Allen watched in horror as his best friend headed straight toward the girl who had done the slowest, most dramatic hip-thrust set on the glute machine earlier. She was now fake-scrolling through her phone, stealing glances at Allen like she was planning her wedding theme.

Gerry walked right up to her.

Allen mouthed silently—No.

Gerry leaned in just enough to speak without raising his voice but still be heard clearly.

“Hey,” Gerry said, smile polite. “So. I couldn’t help but notice you’ve been, uh… checking my boy over there out a little too hard.”

She blinked. “Excuse me?”

Gerry nodded casually. “Yeah. The thing is—he’s taken. And also a billionaire. So unless you’re into heartbreak and credit card rejection, I’d suggest you re-rack those thoughts.”

The girl’s brows shot up. “What the hell—”

“Out of your league,” Gerry added, shrugging. “No offense. Just keeping it real. Save your energy. He’s not looking.”

She made a tight noise of indignation, grabbed her water bottle, and stormed off—heels clicking harder than necessary for gym shoes.

Allen stood frozen, jaw slack. Dumbbell in hand, completely forgotten.

Gerry sauntered back, smug as a cat who just knocked over a fishbowl.

“Done. Settled.” He clapped Allen on the shoulder. “See? You’re welcome.”

“You—” Allen sputtered. “What was that?!”

“You said settle it.” Gerry beamed.

“I meant finish the workout and get out of here!”

“Oh.” Gerry blinked. “Huh. Could’ve been clearer.”

Allen stared. “You just verbally suplexed someone out of my love life.”

“And cleared the area. She won’t be back.” Gerry pointed toward the exit. “See? Poof. Gone. Peace restored.”

Allen ran a hand down his face. “You’re insane.”

“And effective,” Gerry added cheerfully. “Now c’mon, golden boy. Back to the presses before someone else tries to feed you protein pancakes and lock you in their basement.”

Allen sighed deeply. “Never letting you near girls again.”

“You say that now, but admit it,” Gerry smirked. “You feel a little safer, don’t you?”

Allen didn’t answer.

But he was smiling.

Gerry noticed it, too—the corner of Allen’s lips curling with the kind of reluctant amusement that usually meant something like “I’m going to kill you later but I’ll let you live for now.”

They kept going.

Bench presses, cable rows, supersets for back and biceps. No distractions this time, no giggling girls circling the dumbbell rack like piranhas. Gerry’s interference—blunt and nuclear as it was—did its job. The gym returned to what it was supposed to be: weights, sweat, rhythm, and pain that made you stronger.

Allen zoned in. Focused. Until his arms burned and his tank stuck to his back from the soaked-in effort.

They finished their sets just past seven-thirty, the gym only starting to fill with the regular post-commute crowd. Still early. Still quiet. Still theirs.

“Alright,” Gerry said, tossing his towel over his shoulder. “I’m officially toast. Let’s hit the showers before my legs forget how to function.”

Allen gave a satisfied exhale. “Yeah. That was solid.”

They walked toward the locker room, the air cooler the deeper they got into the tiled corridor. The sound of clanging metal faded, replaced by the low hum of vents and the faint hiss of water from behind the closed stalls.

Showers were quick. Neither of them were the type to linger.

When he stepped out, towel slung low around his hips, he was already thinking of food. Or maybe coffee.

He turned the corner— And stopped.

Because standing right at the entrance of the locker area, arms crossed over her fitted sports jacket, hips cocked slightly to the side and one eyebrow arched?

Was Larissa.

Also, very much looking at him like he was her favorite snack after leg day.

“Hey there, golden boy,” she said, slow and smooth like warm caramel. “You’re smiling.”

He opened his mouth, then closed it.

She took a step forward. “And not your usual smug smile either. Like, actual happy smile.” Larissa could sense mood shifts like a hawk with Wi-Fi.

“You’re glowing,” she said, reaching out to flick a drop of water off his shoulder. “Did someone finally give you belly rubs?”

Allen deadpanned. “Don’t start.”

She grinned wider. “Oh, I am starting. Something’s changed, and I’m gonna enjoy the hell out of it.”

She moved closer—into his space—and looked up at him with a soft, mock-curious hum. “Did the Devil Emperor finally get hugged?” she whispered.

Allen sighed. “It’s too early for this.”

Larissa reached up, fingers lightly ruffling his damp hair. “No, it’s perfect timing. You’ve been so broody lately it was like dating a thundercloud. And now? You’re borderline cuddly.”

“I’m not cuddly,” he muttered.

“You kinda are.” She leaned in, her voice dropping slightly. “Which means I get to spoil you.”

Allen’s towel nearly betrayed him.

She leaned back, smug. “Go get dressed, cutie. We’re grabbing breakfast. My treat. You’ve clearly earned it.”

Allen blinked. “Wait—what?”

“I’m serious.” Larissa stepped aside with a little twirl. “You’re not allowed to have that kind of post-glow-up energy and just walk away. I want details. All of them.”
