Chapter 1569: Smudged Lipstick [Part 3] (Magic Castle Bonus)
Villain Ch 1569. Smudged Lipstick [Part 3]

The fire was already lit.

Because it wasn’t just a theory now.

It wasn’t just a suspicion.

They had kissed.

She had been standing right there while Larissa strutted in with his taste still on her lips.

And no one had noticed but her.

Unacceptable.

Sophia stepped out of the locker room, towel draped around her neck like a medal of war. Her hair was neatly tied back, her gym bag slung on one shoulder.

She was already drafting her next move in her head—probably a soft post with a group shot, a casual caption with just enough passive-aggression to spark whispers. Maybe even a cute little #earlymorningswithunexpecteddrama tag for flavor.

Then she paused.

Because right there—just outside the front glass doors of the gym—Allen walked into view.

Allen.

He looked… relaxed. His hoodie sleeves pushed up, gym bag hanging low over one shoulder, hair slightly tousled like he’d run a hand through it out of habit. Still that usual no-nonsense stride, but the edges of his body language were softer than usual.

And walking beside him?

A redhead.

Shorter. Newer-looking. Not a polished gym regular. Not someone Sophia recognized from the regular crew. But she knew her. She had met her before. In that conference.

Her leggings didn’t match her top. Her ponytail looked like she tied it in a hurry. She had that uncertain energy around her—like she was trying to look confident but hadn’t quite figured out if she should be in this space yet.

Newbie.

But still… she was smiling up at Allen.

And Allen?

He said something—quiet, casual—and the girl laughed.

Laughed.

Sophia’s grip tightened on her water bottle until the plastic caved in under her fingers.

The redhead adjusted her bag, gave Allen a playful little punch on the shoulder, and then turned back toward the gym.

Allen? He walked off. Not toward the front lot. Toward the side. The back.

Lila was right.

Sophia stood frozen for a moment, trying to process.

She slipped a little to the side of the entrance, out of view, and watched through the tinted panel as the redhead—still slightly flushed from the outside heat—walked back inside. She didn’t even glance at the receptionist. Just walked straight in like she had a destination.

Straight. Toward. Larissa.

Sophia moved inside again, casually drifting toward the smoothie bar. She didn’t need a drink. She needed proximity. Audio. Context.

The redhead slowed as she approached Larissa, who was re-racking a few light weights by the training zone.

“Hey,” the redhead said softly.

Larissa didn’t turn right away. She finished with the last dumbbell and straightened. Folded her arms. Looked at her. Not mad—but firm.

“Okay,” Larissa said flatly. “Please don’t tell me you forgot about our promise.”

Sophia’s eyes narrowed.

The redhead cringed, just a little. “I didn’t forget. I just… got carried away.”

Larissa raised a brow. “With what?”

The girl fidgeted, then gave a sheepish grin. “A story.”

Larissa sighed. Deeply. The kind of sigh that said I knew it.

“Again?” she muttered. “Jane.”

Jane.

Sophia locked onto the name like a hunter spotting a trail of footprints.

The redhead—Jane—nodded, looking far too unbothered for someone being chastised. “It was good. Like, fanfic-good. You’d totally get it.”

Larissa gave her a dry look. “You were supposed to meet me before class. For your one-on-one.”

“I know. I know,” Jane said quickly. “I woke up early, I swear. But then I got hooked reading and suddenly it was time for breakfast. And Allen offered to—”

Larissa held up a hand. “Don’t.”

Jane blinked. “What?”

“I’m already letting it go. Don’t push it,” Larissa said, then exhaled again and gestured to the open floor. “Come on. We’re still doing the session. No way I’m letting you slack on glutes again.”

Jane beamed. “You’re the best.”

“Mmhm,” Larissa muttered, grabbing a resistance band. “Get on the mat. Let’s fix your posterior chain before I regret all my life choices.”

Sophia just… stood there. Staring.

Everything rewired in her head in real time.

The smudged lipstick. The tension. Larissa’s annoyed expression in the morning.

It wasn’t because of her.

It wasn’t her.

It was Jane.

Because Jane didn’t show up.

Because Larissa expected her and she flaked.

Sophia’s mouth opened slightly in silent disbelief.

So the kiss…

The mood…

The whole flustered vibe from Larissa…

That had nothing to do with Allen, or some mystery betrayal.

It was just that this redhead newbie had thrown off her schedule.

And Allen?

Allen had probably just been dropping her off and kissed Larissa.

Or worse…

Having breakfast with her.

Sophia stared at them.

Larissa was already giving form cues.

Jane was trying to balance on one leg with a dumbbell and laughing about how much she hated lunges.

It was disgusting.

Sophia’s fingers twitched on the strap of her gym bag as she turned away, heat crawling up her neck. She wanted out. Out of this room, this gym, this entire scene.

She moved briskly toward the exit, pushing through the glass door and into the muggy air of the late morning. Her eyes scanned the curb.

Nothing.

She blinked.

Checked her phone.

Still nothing.

“Of course,” she muttered under her breath.

No car. No driver. Not even a “Sorry, I’m five minutes away” message.

She tried calling. Straight to voicemail.

Her jaw clenched as her thumb hovered over her messaging app.

Bell’s Driver

Last seen: 2 hours ago.

Figures.

This wasn’t even the first time. The last time he pulled this stunt, she’d ended up standing in the parking lot for twenty minutes like a commoner.

And Bell—Mr. Bell—had the audacity to say, “Please be patient. Reliable drivers are hard to find.”

Right. That was after she sent a full paragraph detailing how this wasn’t up to standard for someone like her.

She could threaten him again. She could pull the trigger. She still had that chat log—those screenshots that could drag his squeaky-clean reputation through the mud in less than a day.

But no.

Not yet.

It was just a small matter.

This wasn’t the hill she wanted to die on.

Not now. Not when the war she needed to win was bigger.
