Chapter 1578: FOR GLORY
Villain Ch 1578. FOR GLORY

Ront City was now ablaze with life and noise. Streets previously hushed in fear echoed with laughter, lively chatter, and the excited hum of countless voices. Banners and flags representing guilds and famous players snapped vividly in the cool breeze. The atmosphere crackled with frenetic energy—the kind felt at festivals, battlefields, or, like today, both.

Players bustled in clusters, armor polished to mirror-bright perfection, enchanted cloaks rippling with pulses of magic. Mages tested spells in last-minute drills, sparks of fire and ice blooming briefly like fireworks against the twilight sky. Warriors sharpened blades and adjusted heavy plate armor, the metallic scrape resonating as they talked strategy—some nervous, others confidently boasting.

At the center, a massive square served as the staging ground for the Ironclad Legion. Their banners—deep sapphire embroidered with silver runes—flew highest, catching the dwindling sunlight in a glitter of pride. At the front stood Arcana, the guild leader, his armor radiant white trimmed with gold, polished so intensely it resembled living starlight. The emblem on his chest—a hammer wrapped in celestial fire—marked him unmistakably as the Legion’s supreme paladin.

Arcana’s piercing eyes, framed by hair so dark it gleamed violet in the fading sun, swept over his guildmates. Giant projection screens nearby showed the outer layout of the Devil Emperor’s infamous fortress—the Cursed Crypts.

A map released by developers, frustratingly incomplete, displayed winding paths, ominous bone-bridge corridors, and unknown chambers marked with question marks and dark voids.

Arcana turned to the assembled elite. “Alright,” he began, his voice resonant but calm, like tempered steel. “We finally have a layout. It’s just the outer region, but it’s enough. We’re no longer blind. Let’s make it count.”

Gil stepped up beside him, a gauntleted hand resting confidently on his blade hilt. He scanned the crowd, serious beneath shaggy hair. “The devs gave us just enough rope to hang ourselves. Expect hidden traps, shifting corridors, and illusions. This layout is a skeleton—not the full body.”

From the crowd, VirtualValkyrie—Azura—raised her dual daggers, blades gleaming electric cyan. “So, we’re basically diving into hell with half a map. Got it. What’s our opening move, Arc?”

Arcana smiled faintly, a touch of wry confidence curling his lips. “We split. I’ll lead the main assault force through the southwest entrance. According to intel, that’s likely the main bait. If it’s rigged, I’ll trigger it first. Valkyrie, you’ll take our fastest strike team. Find alternate paths. Teleport glyphs, hidden doors—anything off the beaten track.”

“Understood,” Azura nodded, giving a mock salute. “You run straight into traps, we grab the glory. Love it.”

A ripple of laughter echoed around them, but Arcana didn’t mind. Humor kept morale high, and Valkyrie’s cocky grin masked nerves sharper than her daggers.

Father^Alex cleared his throat, his gentle but firm voice breaking through. “Remember to protect healers. Once inside, expect stacking debuffs—Soulburn, Bone Rot, something equally horrific.”

Gil gave him a wry look. “You’re unusually cheerful today, Alex.”

Father^Alex adjusted his robes with a soft sigh. “I’m realistic. This is the Devil Emperor’s stronghold, not a picnic. Mentally preparing to spam mass-heals like a caffeine-addicted keyboard warrior.”

Another ripple of laughter followed. But behind it lay tension. The unknown loomed, and everyone knew this raid was different—players versus the devil emperor. The main villain. And also his companions.

From overhead came a sudden thunderous roar, deep enough to shake cobblestones. A gust of wind, heated and tinged with smoke, swept through the square. Everyone looked upward.

Dragons—not just summoned beasts or mini pets, but full-fledged dragons—appeared. Massive creatures with scales like burnished copper, twilight obsidian, glittering sapphire, and molten gold. Wings spanning dozens of feet, eyes smoldering with intelligence.

Kael, from Arcane Wardens, stared upward, awe evident in his voice. “Thought the devs joked about riding dragons.”

Red_King swaggered into the crowd, crimson armor burnished, smirking confidently. “Welcome to the big leagues, Kael. Learn fast, or your dragon might toss you mid-flight.”

Kael scowled but remained silent, recent guild drama still fresh and ego bruised.

Arcana ignored the tension—drama was for forums, not battlefields.

Arcana raised his gauntlet as an emerald-scaled dragon descended gracefully, settling with a rumble vibrating through the air. Its scales shimmered with ancient magic, smoke curling lazily from its nostrils. Arcana placed a gentle hand on its snout. “Easy, Valyssra. Today, you carry us to victory.”

Valyssra exhaled softly, a low, content purr rumbling in her throat.

Elio frowned. “You named it?”

“Yeah, why not? This is my time to shine. And I will make sure I get it,” Arcana said with a smug smile.

All around, others approached dragons choosing them—players bonding swiftly with beasts they’d dreamed of riding.

James laughed awkwardly, gripping reins of a massive sapphire beast uncertainly.

Noah mounted more confidently, stoic yet visibly excited.

Elio approached his sleek obsidian dragon quietly, eyes glittering with determination. “Alright,” he murmured softly. “Let’s show them why we’re legends.” Despite his voice, he was focused.

Sophia lingered behind, Moonveil Sentinels’ new crest flashing on her cloak, scowling as she approached her dragon reluctantly. She appeared distracted, irritated.

Arcana spared her a single glance—she wasn’t his problem today.

From atop Valyssra, Arcana’s voice carried again. “Ironclad Legion—and allies—we fly today for victory and glory. This isn’t any raid. We’re taking down the Devil Emperor—a raid boss never defeated. Today, we carve our names into server history.”

A cheer erupted, swords and daggers raised high, spells flaring into dazzling bursts of magic. Excitement pulsed through Ront City, lifting spirits as evening settled heavily.

Dragons flexed mighty wings, testing currents, sending gusts of wind billowing through assembled masses. Riders secured themselves, gripping reins, double-checking gear, spells, and potions, hearts thundering in shared anticipation.

Arcana raised his sword, blade blazing like liquid starlight. “For glory!” he yelled.

The square echoed back, thunderous. “FOR GLORY!”

The dragons launched upward in a single, coordinated wave, scales glinting in the sunlight, wings stirring up dust clouds below. Wind howled past riders’ ears, city lights shrinking rapidly below.
