Chapter 1579: Siege of the Cursed Crypts
Villain Ch 1579. Siege of the Cursed Crypts

[System Announcement – WORLD EVENT: “Siege of the Cursed Crypts” Has Begun!]

All players jerked upright in their saddles, eyes widening.

The dragons didn’t pause, but the tension?

Oh yeah. It crackled.

[The Devil Emperor’s stronghold has been located.]

[The portal to the Cursed Crypts will open in Ront City’s core plaza in 2 minutes.]

[Only registered members of the Ironclad Legion and its allies may enter.]

[All participating players will be mounted on a sanctioned dragon or winged beast.]

[This is a limited-time siege. Duration: 2:00:00 hours.]

[Event Buffs Activated for Participating Players:]

[Raid Momentum] (All Stats +10%)

[Winged Fury] (Movement Speed +20% in the air)

[Anti-Curse Veil] (Reduces Cursed Afflictions by 30%)

[Unity of Flame] (Party Heal Boost +15%)

[Dragon’s Favor] (Fall Damage Negated, +1 Emergency Revive Token)

[Good luck, heroes.]

The moment the last line disappeared, the sky shimmered. Right above the core of the city—where just seconds ago was an empty spire plaza—a colossal circular portal ripped open in mid-air.

It didn’t descend to the ground. No, it hovered above the tallest tower, spinning with layers of bone-white runes and deep red vortexes twisting around a blackened core.

The cursed portal.

Ugly, ominous, beautiful.

Only the dragons could reach it. And that was the point.

They’d made it elite. Made it exclusive. No randoms stumbling in. No streamers hoping for cheap glory.

Prove you were part of the Ironclad war effort.

And those who did?

They were now airborne.

“YIHHAAA!!!” Gil’s voice rang through the skies like a kid let loose in a candy shop. He fist-pumped the air, sitting backward on his dragon for a moment just to snap a selfie with the vortex behind him. “Look at this view!”

“Holy hell, we are RIDING DRAGONS!” a player beside him shouted in the same excitement.

Some other players shouted in agreement, laughter trailing behind them on the wind. A few recording video clips while they were mid-flight.

Screenshots were being taken, group poses attempted—poorly.

A pair of rogues tried to form a heart shape in midair using smoke spells before one of them nearly lost grip and had to cling to his saddle with both hands.

“Bro, BRO, you’re fingering the edge of your saddle wrong,” one warrior yelled. “Don’t make me kick you off your dragon, I swear—”

“I WAS JUST ADJUSTING MY STANCE!”

“You’re adjusting yourself straight to the grave, that’s what you’re doing!”

The banter was endless. Excited. Nervous.

It was the first time for many of them. Dragons weren’t cheap. Not even close. Owning one meant investing months of grinding or dropping serious real-world currency.

Most people rode smaller mounts or temporary event birds. This was different. This was a mountain of muscle and magic between their legs, flying fast enough to leave their stomachs somewhere back in the plaza.

A soft pink-haired scholar clung to her partner’s waist, knuckles white. “Remind me again why I said yes to this?!”

“Because you didn’t wanna be left out of the server’s biggest raid of the year?” the tank in front of her replied.

“I HATE HEIGHTS!”

“You also hate missing out on loot.”

“…touche.”

Meanwhile, Arcana flew at the front, his dragon Valyssra gliding smoothly. The paladin looked… composed. Maybe even serene. While others shouted or whooped, he remained still, one hand resting against the beast’s scales, eyes locked on the spinning portal in the distance.

Behind him, Elio adjusted his grip on his obsidian dragon’s reins, jaw tight. “Focus up,” he muttered, mostly to himself. “This isn’t a sightseeing trip.”

Azura rode not far off, her daggers sheathed, hands behind her head as she let her silver-feathered wingbeast glide. “Tell that to Gil,” she called over the wind. “He’s composing a love letter to the sky.”

Gil didn’t deny it. “AND THE SKY LOVES ME BACK!”

Even Noah cracked a rare smile, his usual stoicism melting just a little as his beast dipped low, then swooped up to dodge a draft. “Enjoy it while it lasts,” he said quietly, “once we’re inside, everything changes.”

And that truth hit them like a cold wind to the face.

Because yeah, this was fun now. The sky. The thrill. The buff glow around their avatars. But that portal? That red-black void with the writhing bone runes and pulsating energy?

That was death. Waiting with patience.

The Cursed Crypts weren’t just a dungeon.

They were a war zone.

The devil emperor’s HQ. Every trap fine-tuned. Every bridge a test. Every illusion a delay. The main villain no one had beaten. Not once. Not even in mock battles.

And he was waiting.

Watching.

Somewhere in that corrupted domain.

Arcana slowed his dragon slightly, letting the front formation fan out to form a V behind him. A sharp whistle through his teeth called their attention.

“This is it!” he shouted. “Check your teams! You get separated in there, regroup at the section marked on your maps. Buffs are live. Don’t forget the revive token only works once, and after that—”

“You’re meat paste,” Gil chimed in.

“Exactly. We’re going in hard and fast. Stick to your roles, trust your team, and if it smells like a trap—guess what? It probably is.”

A heavy silence followed.

Even the wind seemed quieter for a beat.

And then the portal pulsed—once.

A loud BONG rang through the air like a bell forged in hell, shaking every mount to the core. The light around the portal surged, intensifying, sucking in air and magic like a giant breath being held.

The countdown began.

[00:00:30]

Thirty seconds.

Every player straightened.

No more jokes.

No more wide-eyed tourists.

Spells were readied. Potions gulped. Blades checked.

Arcana lowered his body, aligning with Valyssra’s spine. “Ready yourselves.”

Twenty seconds.

The glow turned crimson, the runes spinning faster.

Ten seconds.

Players leaned forward, every muscle wired. Hearts thundered.

[00:00:01]

[PORTAL OPEN – ENTER NOW!]

It was like the world tore open.

The dragons dove as one.

Wind screamed past.

The vortex expanded, drawing them in with a force that yanked at skin, gear, sanity. Screams echoed—some from joy, others from terror—as the front lines hit the barrier first.

And then—

Silence.

As if the world held its breath.

And swallowed them whole.

They passed through.

Into the Cursed Crypts.

And somewhere in the crypts…

The devil emperor sat.

Still. Quiet. Smiling.

He opened his system tab with a single flick.

[World Event Detected: Siege of the Cursed Crypts.]

[Enemy Forces Entering Through Main Portal: 123]

[All Traps Armed. Wraithlord Active.]

[Let the game begin.]
