Chapter 1598: Last Candle
Villain Ch 1598. Last Candle

The sky exploded again. Black meteors pelted the entire zone. Stone turned to lava. Players screamed. Alex dropped to one knee, shielding his head. His robe caught fire.

Allen lifted his sword, now glowing with abyssal runes.

“Abyss Shatter.”

-BOOM!

The ground cratered.

The entire party lifted into the air—blasted like debris.

Every status screen blinked in red.

Every HP bar screamed.

Alex hit the ground first.

Coughing.

Barely breathing.

Allen loomed over him, face shadowed by blood-soaked bangs.

“You did well, Healer,” he said softly.

Then raised his blade.

Alex didn’t scream.

Didn’t plead.

He just closed his eyes.

And a second later…

-CLANG!

The blade didn’t fall.

Because Azura tackled Allen from behind, daggers in both hands.

“NO!”

Allen turned—smiling.

She lunged at him with a scream, blades flashing in both hands, fury lighting her every step.

Allen didn’t flinch.

Didn’t move.

Didn’t need to.

He caught her mid-charge.

His clawed hand wrapped clean around her throat, stopping her momentum like she’d hit a wall of pure will.

Her eyes widened—feet dangling above the ground, arms pinned uselessly by his strength.

“Reckless,” Allen murmured, golden eyes locked on hers. “But sweet.”

She gurgled, one hand clawing at his gauntlet. The other still gripping a dagger she couldn’t even lift.

Blood smeared her cheek. Sweat dripped down her temple.

And still, she didn’t break.

Didn’t beg.

She just stared at him with those wild, defiant eyes.

Allen tilted his head, studying her like a collector examining a rare blade.

“You really go this far for him?” he said, voice low, almost curious. “Must be nice… being the one your team would bleed for.”

His grip on her throat tightened—not enough to crush, but just enough to remind her who was in control.

“That healer…” he continued, glancing briefly at Father^Alex in the distance, who was gasping through another chant. “He’s the one they all protect. The one they cover, shield, scream for when he drops.”

He leaned in, breath cold as frost.

“Too bad I need to kill him.”

Allen dropped her.

Azura hit the ground hard, coughing, dragging herself up with one hand on her throat and her eyes burning with rage.

He didn’t even look at her again—his gaze was already shifting to Alex.

“You’re more interesting than the last one,” Allen muttered, voice darker now. Of course, he meant Sophia.

He licked a smear of blood off his thumb—hers—and smiled.

“But this one’s got a team that actually cares.”

Azura hit the ground hard, coughing, scrambling back with one hand on her throat and the other dragging her blade. Her legs shook, but she stayed upright.

Allen didn’t press forward.

Didn’t need to.

He turned, cape fluttering, gaze sweeping across the ruined field.

Elio, panting.

Arcana, bloodied.

Red_King, bracing his broken weapon.

Father^Alex, barely standing, staff trembling as he forced out one more [Blessing Field].

Allen exhaled, brushing Azura’s blood off his cheek with one lazy swipe of his thumb.

[Time Remaining: 3:40]

“Still breathing,” he said.

Then smirked, eyes flashing.

“Let’s see how long that lasts.”

The moment Allen said it, he vanished.

No warning. No chant. Just gone, swallowed by a ripple of shadows.

And every player still standing knew exactly where he was going next.

“Alex, MOVE!” Arcana shouted.

Too late.

Allen reappeared midair behind Father^Alex, blade cocked back, eyes gleaming like he was about to end the damn world.

But somehow—somehow—Alex moved.

His instincts fired off before his brain could even process the threat.

He threw himself forward—a wild, clumsy dive—just as the shadow behind him exploded.

Allen’s blade sliced through where his neck had been half a second ago.

Alex crashed hard on the ground, shoulder-first, staff clattering beside him. He rolled awkwardly, robes torn, knees scraped bloody on jagged stone.

Sweat poured down his face. His mouth trembled, and so did his legs.

But he got up.

Still shaking.

Still scared.

Still alive.

And still chanting.

“Protection! Mass Healing Light! Group Regeneration!”

Magic bloomed from him like a goddamn miracle factory.

Golden runes swirled around Elio’s shattered pauldrons. Red_King’s HP ticked back up. Arcana’s shield reformed mid-swing.

Azura coughed out blood in the distance but felt her ribs begin to snap back into place.

Alex was running now.

Full sprint.

Armor clinking. Breath wheezing. Hands trembling so bad his staff jittered like a tuning fork. But he didn’t stop.

He was terrified. That much was clear.

But he didn’t back down.

Not once.

He wanted to live…

He wanted to fight until the last second…

Allen landed hard behind him, cracking the stone with a laugh that echoed across the battlefield like a curse.

“Oh, I like you now,” he growled, taking a step forward. “You don’t know when to quit. Like a cockroach in holy robes.”

He raised his hand.

Demonic Orbs spun into existence—black, pulsing, each one glowing like a miniature dying star.

He fired.

Straight at Alex.

“Barrier!” Alex shouted mid-run, throwing up a weak dome.

Not strong enough.

The orbs shattered it instantly.

-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

The explosions hit, sending dirt and ash flying, and Alex stumbled forward—hit in the back, flames licking his robe. His HP dropped below half. Red warning lights flashed across his screen.

Still, he chanted through gritted teeth.

“Divine Ward.”

His feet glowed, speeding him up just a little.

Allen narrowed his eyes. “Fine. Let’s make this personal.”

He moved again, fast enough to blur—straight for Alex.

But Red_King came barreling in from the side, slamming his shoulder into Allen just as he swung.

Steel clanged. Sparks flew.

“NOT TODAY!” Red_King roared, shield raised even though it was cracked to hell.

Allen hissed and kicked him. Not just kicked—launched him.

Red_King flew across the field and slammed into a statue, the stone shattering with a deep boom.

Allen turned again.

Only to get a faceful of holy blade.

Elio came from above.

“Judgment Cleave!”

Allen snarled and blocked, sliding back a few feet—but not injured.

Not even a dent.

Elio gritted his teeth. “We’re not letting you near him!”

Allen laughed, low and wild. “You think you’re stopping me?”

“Try us,” Arcana growled, appearing on his flank with Frostbind Slash, trying to slow Allen’s movement.

Azura leapt in too, landing beside Alex and guarding him like a rabid wolf. She didn’t speak. Just stood with blades out, breathing hard, ready to die if it meant keeping him safe.

Because they all knew.

If Alex fell, they all fell.

He was the light keeping them alive.

Their last candle in this nightmare.

And Allen?

Allen was the wind trying to snuff it out.
