Chapter 498: Deadliest Form
“So, this is where they were camping?” Reign touched his chin as he observed the Behemoth from a distance.
It had landed on the far edge of the barrier, and he could see it clearly while standing atop one of the mountains.
The impressive wonder of modern science stood intact after the battle, which was remarkable given its size.
He assumed it must have fled.
After all, with demon kings falling one after another, there was no way a mere tin can could survive. It was smart of them to minimize their losses.
Looking closer, he noticed smaller military camps scattered across the surrounding ground, where hunters and demons moved about.
Some demons occasionally flew in and out, likely investigating to see if this place held any hidden more secrets.
He doubted that was the case.
From the start, Lilith had lied to him about the true number of keys, which was why he’d let his guard down, assuming they were only searching for the others and not the seed itself.
He continued observing, unbothered by the risk of being caught. Kaelin, now a fist-sized chameleon perched on his shoulder, made him invisible.
Her ability was very useful, and her quiet nature only added to its advantage.
Reign hoped the others were just as silent; that would make his life much easier.
‘There are about five demon kings here in total, but they’re all weaker than the one with six arms. I wonder where that guy is. I really want to kill him.’
Reign might have faked his defeat, but that didn’t change the fact he was wounded, nearly killed, and forced to use one of his most precious life-saving abilities.
The memory left a bitter taste in his mouth, and he wouldn’t be himself if he didn’t seek revenge.
‘Next time we meet, I’ll rip those six arms off and turn them into a decoration,’ he added.
‘But for now, I’ll settle for them.’ A creepy smile crept onto his face.
“Kaelin, no matter what happens, keep your ability active,” he ordered.
“Yes, Master,” she replied, sensing the seriousness in his tone.
Suddenly, his expression went blank, leaving her confused.
Before she could check on him, a strange feeling crept over her, quickly followed by a blinding flash of light..
She heard a series of buzzing sounds, too fast and quick, like the beat of music playing in extremely fast motion.
The sound echoed around her, but she couldn’t see anything at all.
When her vision cleared, the airship was filled with massive, smooth spherical walls, and the once-mighty vessel lay in ruins.
The ground around it was riddled with similar holes, making it look like a block of cheese.
Filled with confidence just moments before, the demon kings now groaned on the ground, some barely clinging to life .
Their bodies were riddled wounds; while others weren’t lucky enough and were killed on the spot.
These prideful and powerful beings had been reduced to this state before they could even figure out what had hit them.
As the survivors tried to control their energy to slowly regenerate their lost limbs, their efforts were met only by dark red beams that struck them down, finishing what little life remained.
‘What’s happening? Did that devil come back?’ Kaelin wondered.

It was the only thought that crossed her mind after witnessing such a one-sided massacre.
Whoever launched the attack made these so-called demon kings look like a bunch of amateurs.
Suddenly, a cracking sound pierced the air, resembling the frantic chirping of thousands of birds.
Before she could track the source , shockwaves erupted on the air as the one responsible for this destruction stopped flying mid-air.
The speed was astonishing; it happened so quickly that it seemed to have teleported out of nowhere, leaving her stunned and afraid.
It landed with a heavy thud.
The figure was so terrifying that even Kaelin felt an instinctive urge to run away.
Its appearance made the other demon kings look very handsome by comparison.
The face was so horrifying that even she, who had seen her fair share of horrors, could say it was the most terrifying being her eyes had ever landed on.
‘Am I safe? That scary thing can’t see me, can it?’
Her thoughts raced in a panic. Even Lilith hadn’t exerted this much pressure on her.
The figure wasn’t stronger than Lilith; it was its appearance.
It looked like a being that had gone out of its way to ensure it was as terrifying as possible, like it had read a book on ‘How to Be the Scariest looking Villain’ and taken every tip to heart.
The figure began to look around, smiling creepily as if it took pride in the death it had caused.
Just then, black tendrils shot from its body, lashing out and enveloping the fallen demon kings and all the corpse on the area.
One by one, they were absorbed until nothing remained.
‘We need to get out of here. That thing is really dangerous!’ she muttered under her breath.
She glanced at Reign’s face again, but it remained blank. Strangely enough, she couldn’t sense his consciousness at all, as if she were looking at an empty shell.
Turning her gaze back to the demon, her heart nearly stopped.
It seemed to be staring directly at her, as if it knew exactly where they were.
‘No, this is just a coincidence,’ she whispered, trying to calm herself.
But then the entity began to smile, a twisted grin that sent chills down her spine.
Panic filled her, and she thought her end had come.
But to her relief, it simply flew up into the sky, leaving them behind.
Kaelin let out a deep sigh, the weight of fear lifting slightly from her chest.
“Master,” she called softly, hoping to snap him out of his blank state. “We need to move before it comes back.”
No answer came.
“Master, are you okay?” she asked again.
Again, no answer.
“Master ?”
Then, Reign finally reacted and looked at her.
“What’s the problem? Why are you trembling?” he asked, acting like he had no idea about why the poor little divine beast looked traumatized.
