Chapter 518: Tradition Part 1
As if in response to his thoughts, the pendant Elizabeth gave him started to vibrate, buzzing softly.
Reign looked at it and pressed the small button in the middle.
Immediately, a sound came from the pendant.
“Can you hear me?” Elizabeth’s voice came through.
“Yeah, I can hear you. What’s the problem?”
“What’s the problem? I’ve been trying to contact you, but the pendant wasn’t responding. Did you leave it somewhere?” Elizabeth’s voice sounded both annoyed and relieved.
“Yes,” he replied.
“I forgot to mention—it only works if it’s touching your skin.” she explained.
‘Oh, so that’s why,’ he thought, piecing it together. ‘But then, what about Anna? ‘
He turned to her, raising an eyebrow. “Where’s your communication device?”
Anna, still beaming and clinging to his arm, shrugged with a playful smile. “I left it somewhere at my mansion.”
Reign shook his head, holding back a sigh. She might have the appearance of an adult now, but her attitude reminded him of a spoiled child.
“Go get it,” he commanded. “I need you to stay updated at all times when I’m busy.”
She pouted slightly, not wanting to leave so soon after he’d returned.
“But—”
“No buts. Just go.”
“Okay,” she mumbled, nodding reluctantly.
She couldn’t say ‘No’ to him, and he was making full use of this, turning her into his personal assistant, bodyguard, and more.
Once Anna had left, Reign turned his attention back to the vibrating pendant in his hand.
He cleared his throat, steadying his thoughts, and spoke directly into it.
“So, what’s the reason for this call? And by the way, I don’t appreciate your tone. I have a rank, you know,” he reprimanded her.
A pause lingered on the other end. Then Elizabeth’s voice returned.
“Apologies, General. I’ll keep that in mind.” She adjusted her tone, giving him the respect he deserved.
It stung her pride a little, but deep down, she knew he was right to impose such a command.
“Good,” he allowed himself a small, satisfied nod, then pressed her to continue.
“Go on, tell me what you want, and I’m busy so make it quick”
“I’ll keep this short, General.” she began, “Demon God Tara told me that you have to host a ball in your mansion. It’s a common courtesy, and it would allow you to mingle with higher-ranked demons.”
His expression darkened as his jaw clenched. Before he could stop himself, the frustration exploded.
“That’s a waste of time!” he spat out, his voice rising with irritation.
The idea of spending one minute entertaining other demons, most of whom he couldn’t care less about, was beyond him. He had no time for games, nor patience for politics.

‘Why the hell would I want to talk to them? I’d rather eat them than waste my time on this nonsense,’
“General, this isn’t optional,” Elizabeth’s voice came through the pendant, sounding more urgent. “Demon God Tara is not someone you want to mess with. She is ruthless and unforgiving. If she’s decided to take an interest in you, you’d better handle this carefully.”
“In addition, you’re going to need connections if you want to survive here. And this is how it’s done. It’s all about appearances and tradition, even if you don’t like it.”
“Appearances?” he scoffed, his voice dripping with contempt. “I’d rather let my actions speak for me, not some stupid party. Just give me a normal mission.”
“I understand your frustration, but this is how things work here,” she responded. “And if you don’t do it within a week, the Demon God threatened to come visit you personally.”
He chuckled loudly the sound dark and sarcastic. “I couldn’t care less. She can come all she wants. Let her try. I’ll show her what happens when I get threaten me.”
“General. If you refuse… it could get messy, and not just for you.”
“Tell her that I came here to hunt Lilith and not to play around!” Reign snapped, his voice cold and resolute.
He didn’t care how many traditions or formalities they had.
With that, he ended the call, the faint hum of the pendant now silent in his hand.
Without a second thought, he shoved it back into his pocket, his decision final. No more distractions, no more nonsense.
Reign turned away from the door, his mind already focused on his next steps.
‘What’s this feeling?’
He stopped walking, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. He instinctively turned around, but before he could react, a semi-transparent hand burst through the wall behind him.
With a force that was almost too fast to follow, the hand slammed into him, sending shockwaves through his body.
BOOOOM!
He was slammed hard against the wall. The impact shattered it completely, sending him flying through the air.
His body flipped and tumbled uncontrollably, pain shooting through him as he struggled to regain his balance.
He only stopped when he collided with the invisible barrier that marked the edge of his territory.
Reign was left suspended for a moment, disoriented, dust settling around him, his mind racing to process what had just happened.
The pressure in the air still lingered, and his instincts screamed that this was no ordinary attack. Someone—or something—was after him.
‘Not good!’
He felt the pressure again—a second strike coming, faster than the first. His senses snapped into overdrive.
With barely a moment to think, he jumped to the side, narrowly avoiding the massive, semi-transparent hand that shot through the ground, tearing up the earth as it swung by.
But before he could even take a breath, the ground beneath him cracked open, and another hand erupted from the earth.
It grabbed him , its cold energy seeping into his flesh as it squeezed.
“ARGHHHH!” he screamed in pain, quickly covering himself with a thin barrier to withstand the pressure.
But the hand was too powerful, and the shield shattered like glass, offering him no protection against the crushing pressure.
CRACK!
The force was overwhelming. And before he could catch a break, another massive hand gripped him tightly and started swinging him violently back and forth, like a ragdoll.
