Chapter 156: We’re Not Robbers
“Please!! Just one more! Just one more!”
I grimaced at the human with modded Alv ears prostrating on the ground while grabbing my foot to beg me to make him another sandwich.
Geez, calm down will you? Even Amber doesn’t act like that to get me to make more food for her, she just goes down on me and… Ok, yeah, I don’t want you doing that to me so forget I said anything.
Amber cleared her throat behind him, “Ahem… I think you’re forgetting something, aren’t you? You know? After all the shit you said before getting the food she made?”
Without even a second of hesitation, he pressed his head against the ground, “Please forgive me! I was completely wrong! I was just some dumb idiot who didn’t know what actual food even tasted like and dared to act arrogant in front of you!”
Oh wow… That’s a really big change in attitude as compared to earlier…
He wasn’t even done as he quickly switched the direction he was bowing to face Amber, “Please also accept my humblest of thanks for saving me from further embarrassing myself with my arrogance! I will properly reflect on this and make sure it never happens again!”
Ok, ok, calm down, geez… It’s just a sandwich damnit.
I proceeded to start making one more when Amber and Lea suddenly appeared behind me with raised hands.
“One more for me too!”
“I would like to request another serving as well, Captain.”
… Alright, alright, three more sandwiches coming right up.
The bar owner saw me starting to prepare another one and he knocked his head against the ground, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’ll happily give you all the money that we’ve received today for this!!”
Right as he said that, the door burst open and the man I saw took over the bar for the bar owner was standing there with a shotgun in his hands.
“Alright! Nobody move!!”
What the fuck? What the hell is he doing?
Amber reacted the fastest and I didn’t even notice her move while I was processing the sight in front of me.
When the door had burst open, she had already pulled out her pistol and sunk into a crouch to point her own gun at the guy.
But the newcomer seemed to have brought backup because four more people whom I realised were all staff members of the bar also came into the kitchen behind him, all of them holding a firearm to level them at us.
The first guy growled at us, “You think you can come in here and threaten our boss huh? We ain’t giving you anything! Now while we’re in a generous mood to let you leave on your own two feet, I suggest you take it before you leave in a body bag!”
Threaten? What is he… Oh.
I looked at the knife in my hand, then at the bar owner that was still kneeling on the ground and looking more confused than we were.
Right… Now I know how this looks to someone who had zero context to why this was happening.
Amber wasn’t that amused about having weapons being pointed at us though.
“Drop those weapons before I drop you. I can guarantee you that I can shoot all of you faster than you can shoot any of us. Don’t even try.”
I raised my hands, “Woah, woah! Everyone calm down now! We’re not threatening your boss! He’s… He’s err… Trying to beg me to help him do something for him, ok? I’m not forcing him to do anything at all!”
The bar owner finally realised what was going on and stood up, “Wait, wait! All of you stand down! I’m not being robbed this time, relax!”
‘This time’? You telling me that this happened before? Oh what am I talking about, I just saw a robot clinic getting robbed earlier today as well, so of course they must have experienced something similar too.
The shotgun guy raised an eyebrow, “Are you… Are you sure boss? They’re not threatening you or something? Like what one of those gangs tried to do when they demanded you for protection money?”
“We already dealt with that, didn’t we? Relax, this time it’s really me trying to… Err… Well… I guess there’s not easy way to put it… I’m begging her for a favour.”

The staff members slowly lowered their weapons and one of the female staff scoffed at him.
“Boss… I know they’re pretty but this is a new low even for you.”
He scowled, “I’m not begging them for sex you bitch! Get back to the bar, all of you!”
The shotgun guy nodded at the others, “I’ll stay to make sure nothing weird happens, you guys go back to man the bar.”
The others grumbled but obeyed, a few of them shooting us a look before they stepped back into the bar.
The bar owner looked at the shotgun guy, “Shut the door.”
He raised an eyebrow, “That sounds like you are about to do something shady.”
“More like somethings happening here that I really don’t want others to know.”
The shotgun guy shrugged and did as his boss asked.
By the way, Amber hasn’t stopped pointing her pistol at him.
Once the door was properly shut, the bar owner turned back to me, “Is it too much to ask you to prepare an additional serving for him as well?”
“What serving?” The guy interrupted before I could say anything.
“The serving of the best food you’ve ever tasted in your entire life of course!” The bar owner boasted, like as if he was the one who was going to make the food.
The shotgun guy grimaced, “No thanks, I’m good. I’ll just stay over here and watch.”
“Your loss then.”
“And could you stop pointing your pistol at me already? I already lowered my weapon.”
Amber said nothing and continued pointing it at him.
“Amber, just drop it,” I asked.
Only then did she lower her pistol though she made no move to return it to her holster.
I decided to just ignore that and proceeded with making a second batch of the sandwiches. This time, I managed to make it at twice the speed since I already knew how much to mix for each of the synthfood to get the taste I wanted so there was less testing involved.
But predictably, someone was not that receptive of my methods and was crying out near the door.
“What the hell are you doing?! You’re wasting our food!” The shotgun guy cried.
The bar owner was quick to turn around and point a finger at him, “You, be quiet.”
“But boss! Look at what she’s doing!! She’s–”
“I’m telling you again… Be quiet. I embarrassed myself by acting like you did earlier, I will not let you make the same mistake as I did.”
Geez, that’s overacting a little don’t you think?
Whatever… I’ll just focus on making the sandwiches. I’ll also make an extra one because I could already sort of guess what would happen in a while.
Once I was done, I stepped aside and the three people waiting behind me immediately rushed forward and snatched up a piece for themselves before devouring it.
“So goooood~”
“Truly delicious.”
“This is heaven!”
I peeked at the shotgun guy to see him watching his boss crying over a sandwich with a complicated expression on his face.
He then turned to narrow his eyes at me, “What manner of drugs did you slip inside that?”
I gestured at the counter, “You saw me work didn’t you? At what point did I slip drugs inside the food?”
“There’s no way something made like that would make our boss be reduced to such a state! You must have done something!”
I smiled and pointed at the extra sandwich I made, “Well… How about you try one then? Maybe that might change your mind?”
His eyes darted to the plate of food beside me, then to me, then back to the sandwich.
His curiosity seemed to have won out because he grudgingly stepped up and took the sandwich and lifted it to his face.
He gave it a tentative sniff, his face scrunching up slightly in confusion before finally leaning forward to take a bite.
He chewed on it for a few seconds before surprisingly putting the food back down on the plate.
Ah… I guess I should have known that my cooking isn’t as good as they all claim to be. I knew someone would disagree sooner or–
“Please forgive this incompetent fool who did not know who he was talking to!!” The shotgun guy cried out, prostrating himself just like what his boss did a few moments ago.
… Ok, I’m not even surprised anymore… So how about you just–
My thoughts were interrupted again when the door burst open for the second time today and the staff from earlier rushed in.
“Stop right there! We heard cry– What the hell?!”
Godamnit… I’m gonna have to make another batch of sandwiches again aren’t I?
