Chapter 166: The Corp Is Resisting
Bimic showed no reaction to the video and simply went on to play the next one as if it was something that he had seen before.
In fact, Amber and Lea didn’t look too surprised by what they saw either.
Is something like that really commonplace for this universe? Sounds pretty bad if that was the case…
The next video showed a different guy but also dressed in a similar suit as the first one. Instead of being tied to a chair, this one was hung up with a chain tied around his wrists.
Also, the video started with some masked dude already using him as a punching bag and striking his fists against his abdomen.
Something came into the video frame and I realised it was just someone walking towards the tied up guy.
His features were hidden by the shadow of the room but we could still see him wave at the masked guy who obediently stopped punching the tied up guy and stepped away from him.
“Are you willing to talk yet, mister Xi?”
The tied up guy who we now know as ‘Mister Xi’ let out a choked groan.
The shadowed guy started pacing behind him, still hiding in the shadows, “We have been quite generous with our offers so far, so I suggest that you don’t push your luck. Whatever you are experiencing now is just a small fraction of what we are willing to do to you if you continue to be stubborn.”
He then gestured to the masked guy and he stepped forward to deliver another gut punch before stepping away again.
Mister Xi groaned again, coughing out some blood that splattered on the floor.
“Last chance, mister Xi. Who are the ones that sent you to steal our stash of weapons? What are you planning to do after stealing them?”
The mister Xi guy muttered something unintelligible, which prompted the shadow guy to move a little closer to him.
“What was that? Speak up, please.”
“I said… Explosion.”
“Wha–”
The chained up mister Xi suddenly exploded like a bomb which caused the video to fizzle out, though not before showing the shadowed guy being blown back to crash into the wall with a sickening crack.
Once again, Bimic showed no reaction to the video and Amber only raised an eyebrow while Lea kept her face neutral.
The next video that he played was of an empty bed which confused me at first. That was until the sound of a door opening could be heard and a man came in dragging something behind him.
He then tossed the thing onto the bed to reveal that it was a badly beaten up woman who I only knew was still alive because of the rise and fall of her naked chest.
“Oh, that’s one of the previous station masters of this station,” Bimic muttered while scratching his chin. “I always wondered what actually happened to her, now I know I guess.”
The guy then chained the woman up to the bedpost and it went pretty much as you might expect where he started raping her right there.
Didn’t even matter that her face was beaten badly and her body was bruised and filled with cuts either.
I was about to ask if we could just skip this video when the guy let out a groan as he finished.
“Oh wow, that was like… Fifteen seconds?” Amber chuckled aloud. “Even I lasted longer with Tera~”
Err… No need to announce that out loud, Amber… And I will say that your orgasms are pretty violent you know?
Ah crap, I’m getting hard just remembering about last night…
The guy then got off her and dressed himself before walking over to the camera which revealed his face.
Bimic paused the video at that exact moment, “Oh got it! That’s one of the directors of… Ahem… Ah… Err… Pretend you girls didn’t hear that, please.”

I gave him a look, “I take it that these files are extremely valuable in that case?”
“Oh yes! In fact, I wouldn’t even need to stay here after I send this!! I can start packing up right now while I send this to my client! This is huge!”
Even as he was saying that, his fingers were already flying across the console to move the file as an attachment that he was sending through the GalNet to his client.
Once the progress bar popped up to show that the files were in the midst of being sent, he immediately started packing up everything that wasn’t nailed down inside the room.
I raised an eyebrow, “Are you really in such a hurry to get off this station or something?”
He paused in the action of folding up one of the computer screens, “Would you even want to stay on this station for a day longer if you didn’t need to?”
I shrugged, “Place seems pretty ok to me though?”
“Uh-huh, try staying all the way down here and living off of nothing but packaged synthfood for the entire time here. All the money I syphoned and I couldn’t even use it to buy decent food… That was the worst part of it all.”
“How are you even getting food here?”
“I order them and get them delivered to me, obviously.”
“Then couldn’t you order something else other than the packaged synthfood instead?”
“Pfft, I’m from the inner colonies, you know? The synthfood made there tastes much better than the synthfood here because their food processors are all shit. If I had known about this, I would have brought my own food processor! Just tasting the food here already makes me feel like throwing up!”
I froze.
“Wait… Are you telling me that the food here tastes worse than where you come from because of the food processors?”
“Yeah? I mean that’s obvious since they’re all using the machines from like… Two to three generations ago? Those machines were literally made when we needed to just have food to survive, not for it to taste good. So of course the things coming out of it taste like shit.”
Ohhhh! So this isn’t just me then! It’s really just the machine! I’m actually not abnormal!!
No wait, I came from another universe, I’m still abnormal.
But now I know I could actually be able to taste synthfood that won’t make me throw up if I just have them processed in better food processors!
Not that this is something that I was hoping for but at least it means that I don’t need to keep worrying about eating crap outside anymore and have to always make my own food.
Hey! As fun as the cooking is, it gets tiring after a while and I’d like to have someone else cook for me too!
I tried teaching Amber and Lea but because neither of them knew what the ‘correct’ taste of something is, it’s hard for them to get the taste right.
Not to say that I wasn’t trying but it’s still a work in progress at the moment.
Bimic continued to pack his things even as I was celebrating that possibility when a ringing sound came from one of the consoles near the one that was sending the file.
I thought it meant that the file was successfully sent but when I saw the colour drain out from Bimic’s face, I knew that wasn’t the case.
He rushed towards the console and tapped on it hurriedly, prompting a holographic screen to pop up in the air.
The screen showed a view of a corridor I did not recognise and a hole seemed to have just been blasted open and several people wearing pure black clothes and a helmet that covered their entire head stepped out of the hole. All of them were armed to the teeth with rifles, shotguns and even light machine guns.
I turned to look at Bimic and he got even paler when he saw that.
“No… No, no, no… How did they… How did they find me?” He muttered.
“I’m guessing they’re some kind of private security force for the corporation you are working against?” I asked.
“Pre… Pretty much…”
“You don’t suppose it’s because I decrypted the file for you, was it?”
“No… That can’t be possible… You did it while you weren’t connected to the GalNet so… FUCK!! When we were watching the videos on my terminal!! The files must have also alerted them and they sent them here!! Fuck, fuck, fuck!!!”
Amber grabbed me by the arm, “Alright! I guess it’s time for us to leave then, since we already did our part and all~ If you get paid by your client, remember to send our share our way, ok? Have a nice day~”
Bimic swivelled his head towards us, “Wait!! You’re planning on just leaving me behind?!”
“Hmm? What’s stopping you from running as well?”
He turned towards the screen that showed the file transfer was not even at the halfway mark yet.
“This… I… I can’t… This would be worth so much… Fuuuuuck!! I’ll hire you!! Help me stall them, please!!!”
I turned, only to see Amber grinning, “How much are you offering?”
Oh, more business. But is this really worth it?
