Chapter 271: You Built This Wrong
Felicia was also surprised by our Alv’s outburst and was looking at her with clear worry on her face.
“Umm… What’s wrong, Miss Lea? We designed it as you specified…”
Lea pointed upwards at what were clearly water sprinklers stuck to the ceiling, “This was not what I asked for.”
Eh? What’s wrong with those sprinklers? Aren’t they normal for a garden?
Felicia also had the same question as I did since she also looked up and asked, “What’s wrong with them? Are they not to your specifications?”
Lea tapped on her personal terminal and pulled out the designs of the garden that she had given them, “This was what I told you to make.”
The saleswoman blinked, “Umm… What’s wrong? It looks alright to me?”
Lea tapped a finger on the designs, “Those aren’t water sprinklers… Those are water outlet pipes.”
“You wanted… Water outlet pipes coming from the ceiling?”
Our Alv furrowed her brows and gestured at her personal terminal angrily, “This design is right side up. It is not upside down right now.”
Oh…
Lea wanted the pipes to come up from the floor, not the ceiling… Damn… That’s a pretty big fuck up here…
I could see the colour drain from Felicia’s face as she realised they really did screw up on this.
She quickly raised a finger, “Please… Please give me a moment.”
The saleswoman quickly went to the side and tapped on her personal terminal desperately.
I realised that she was calling the engineer as the holographic image of him appeared and she relayed the problem to him in hushed whispers.
I turned to Lea in the meantime, “Did we… Tell them that the pipes were supposed to come from below?”
Lea nodded, “I not only told them verbally, I specified in the designs as well.”
She pointed at the screen and I saw that it was written there very specifically that the pipes should be coming from the floors.
I guess the people building the ship thought that Lea was mistaken with her designs and took the liberty to change it instead of sticking to the design.
Damn, that’s a really, really big screw up then…
Felicia returned, trying her best to look composed, “Umm… Miss Tera? Miss Lea? We will correct this mistake as soon as possible but… It would need another day as they would have to disassemble this room to reroute the water supply to the flooring instead… There won’t be an extra charge for this mistake.”
Amber raised an eyebrow at her, “That’s a given, but now you’ve made us wait for one extra day unnecessarily. We had plans, you know?”
“Ah… Umm… We will compensate you for this mistake… And we have rooms here on the station that we could let you stay the day for free. How about that?”
Everyone turned to me, showing that they would defer to me for the decision.
Honestly, I was a little annoyed by this but it’s no use complaining about it anyway since they already said they would fix it.
There’s only one thing I was concerned about.
“Would this compromise the integrity of the ship?”
Felicia shook her head quickly, “Not at all, Miss Tera! I can assure you we will make sure of that!”
“Hmm… And how much are you guys going to compensate us?”

“How does five hundred thousand Credits sound?”
Amber scoffed, “Excuse me? Only five hundred thousand Credits? We’re Gold Ranked Mercs. You think five hundred thousand Credits is enough to compensate us for making us stranded here an extra day? If it’s five hundred thousand Credits per person, that would at least be acceptable.”
Felicia grimaced, “I will… I will need to confirm that with my higher ups… How… How about we continue the tour first?”
Ries nodded, “I think we should look at the rest of the ship just in case they screw up other parts of the ship…”
Felicia definitely did not like that possibility but she kept her mouth shut about it.
I agreed with Ries though so we moved out of the Hydroponics room to continue the tour of the ship.
Walking past the Captain’s Quarters, I realised we were also passing by a door on our left but Felicia did not stop to explain what was behind it.
And past the intersection, there was also another door that she skipped before reaching the end that she gestured to, “This is the recreation room!”
The door opened and we peeked inside.
Hard to screw up this room since there’s nothing in here right now as we have yet to decide what to put in here. That’s why for now, it was just an empty room.
She then pointed to the door opposite us, “That is the kitchen and dining room! I think you will like this one!”
I hope for your sake that we do because I have a feeling that if I find something that wasn’t up to standard, there would be three people behind me who would not be letting a mistake like that go easily.
The area just behind the door was the dining area and there was one big table that was big enough to seat twelve people, meaning that even with a full crew, everyone would be able to eat together.
And right behind the dining table… Was the kitchen.
Oh my god… It was glorious.
I had ordered the Teppan Grill, the Photon Fire stove and the High Intensity Induction stove, the multi-layered Ice-Fire oven, the Polar Steamer and a whole bunch of smaller appliances that took up the entire back wall of this room.
Not gonna lie, a few of them were impulse purchases because I thought I might as well get them as a package since I was already getting some of them anyway.
But now that I see the entire setup there, I have no regrets.
Just saying… The fridge was a walk-in that had its own freezer section as well so we could potentially store enough food in there for eleven people to last three months if we wanted to.
I am, of course, accounting for the fact that we would have synthfood as well as organic food to account for that time estimation.
For this place in particular, I went over each of the appliances and checked their condition individually.
I’ve read up on their operation manuals ahead of time so I at least knew the theory on how each of them operates so I wasn’t bumbling around them at the very least.
Still, it would be another story to cook with them altogether so I do intend to spend some time getting used to them later on.
I also went into the fridge to check the temperature ranges that could be controlled by a control panel both inside and outside the fridge and yep, everything was functioning perfectly.
I stepped out of the walk-in fridge to see a nervous Felicia looking at me.
“Is everything to your liking, Miss Tera?”
I nodded, “Yes, everything here is perfect.”
She let out a sigh of relief before straightening herself quickly, “There is one more room at the back if you would just follow me.”
We left the kitchen to move back into the corridor, the saleswoman guiding us to the T-Junction and making a left turn that led us to the very back of the ship.
“This is the engineering and maintenance room situated at the very back of the ship.”
Ah, this is Ries’s area then.
We stepped inside the room and it was pretty much what I expected it to be.
Aside from the engines, the shield generator and the power generator lined up at the back of the room, the other half of it was basically a workshop where Ries could tinker, build and maintain the ship however she liked.
I turned to Ries, wondering if she could see some defects like Lea did but seeing how her eyes went wide and her mouth hung open told me there were absolutely no problems.
I could have sworn that there were sparkles flying out from her as she beheld the workshop that was made for her.
Welp, at least there’s no problem with this one.
Felicia was definitely relieved to hear that we liked it and she brought us to the final area of the ship, which was accessed through the door that we passed by earlier that she ignored.
Turns out it led to a set of stairs that carried us up to the bridge of the ship.
There was a captain’s seat at the very centre of the bridge and behind it was a navigation chart while in front of it looked like a pilot seat.
I was told that the Captain could also assume control of the ship absent a pilot so that’s nice.
To the left was the weapons console panel and to the right was the communications console panel, all of them forming the bridge of our new ship.
All in all, aside from the problem with the Hydroponics room, I think this is a good ship and a very good purchase.
Definitely no regrets.
