Chapter 301: Ries And Shine
Amber was giving me a smug smile when I left the room with Ries.
“Did you pound the pussy cat good?” She asked unashamedly.
I rolled my eyes and was just about to answer but Ries beat me to it.
“Ye… Yes… Boss pounded me really good…”
Wow… She really went to say it huh?
That admission only made Amber’s smile turn even more smug.
I decided to ignore that and asked about something else that I wanted to know for a while now, “What was this I heard about ‘mating signs’?”
Amber gestured towards Ries, “A Maochatte would only let people who are close to them pat their heads.”
“Err… Ok? Doesn’t that include you and Lea as well? That isn’t really a sign?” I pointed out.
“Hehe~ But a Maochatte would only curl up on the lap of their mate or someone they are interested in making their mate.”
Eh?
“Wait… Wasn’t she under the influence of that aphrodisiac thing?”
“Pfft, to curl up in the lap of someone is an indication of love, not lust. I think you know what that means?”
Ah… Ok…
Looking back, I think I was the only one she actually did that to… So those were the signs they were talking about?
In that case, you can’t blame me for not knowing… I don’t even know the culture of my own race in this universe so you can’t expect me to know another race’s.
But hey, I’m learning!
I turned to Ries, “You were really giving me signs from the start huh? Does that mean you were into me from the start?”
Ries blushed, “Ye… A little…”
Even though she said that, her tail swishing behind her pretty much told me the answer.
I decided to change the topic for her sake, “So… Where’s Mara?”
Amber snorted, “Yeah… About that… She found the storage of alcohol that you mixed. She’s probably out cold in the dining area right now…”
Ah… Well.. I guess that’s fine. Those beers I made were for everyone to partake, so even if she emptied the entire stock it wouldn’t really matter.
It basically just gave me an excuse to mix a new batch of beer which I don’t mind doing.
“I’m guessing we’ll need to prepare a room for her then?” I asked.
Amber waved her hand dismissively, “We can just dump her outside in some dark alley. There’s no need to be so nice to her.”
Ries poked her fingers together, “Umm… I think it’s ok to help her…”
“Tsk… You’re only saying this because she helped you get laid with Tera,” Amber grumbled.
Ries looked away, refusing to respond to that accusation.
Well, even I could tell that what Amber said was true…

I sighed, “Let me just go check on her first.”
I then headed to the dining room with the two girls in tow, though that didn’t stop Amber from continuing to tease Ries while walking behind me.
“Alright~ So how was it, Ries?” Amber asked, a mischievous tone in her voice.
“Eh? How was what?”
“Oh come now. There’s no need to pretend anymore, is there? How was your first time with Tera?”
“A… Ah… Umm… It was… Good?”
“Just ‘good’? Really? Not like ‘life changing’ or maybe ‘absolutely out of this universe’?”
“It… Umm… Do I have to answer?”
“Ehehehe~ Of course you do~ I think you owe me that much for giving you that push, don’t you?”
“I… I don’t know…”
“If it helps, my first time with Tera was absolutely perfect~ It filled up a void in me that I didn’t even know I had and I feel complete~”
“Ah… I… I guess I also feel that way too… It was really nice… And warm… And umm… Very soothing…”
“Oh I know exactly what you mean~ Especially when she fills up your womb with her love… It really makes you melt doesn’t it?”
“Ye… Yes…”
Ok I think I heard enough! Must you girls really talk like I’m not even here? I could feel my own cheeks burning in embarrassment!
Good thing we reached the dining room after that and I quickly ducked inside to escape from their embarrassing conversation.
As Amber had told us earlier, Mara had found the alcohol stash though she was incorrect about the doctor being knocked out.
There were at least fifteen to twenty empty bottles in front of her while she was sipping on another bottle casually, not even looking drunk at all.
If I were to add the drinks she had earlier before I took Ries to my room, she’s consumed at least two dozen bottles of beer already.
Damn… Are you sure you’re not modded, Mara? Because I’m pretty sure drinking that much alcohol in such a short time should have killed a normal person…
Yet there she was, still drinking another bottle as if all she drank was just plain water.
She noticed us immediately and gave a lazy wave at us, “Welcome back. I see the two of you are already done. I hope you don’t mind me going through your beer stash, Tera?”
“Ah, that’s fine. I did make all those for everyone to drink anyway… Although I’m more surprised that you managed to finish so many bottles on your own…”
She chuckled, “I have a good tolerance level.”
Right… Maybe in this universe the alcohol is different or maybe humans have evolved to be able to drink more alcohol than before?
Honestly, I wouldn’t even be surprised if it turned out the latter was true.
Putting that aside though…
“How long before your contact is able to arrange a meeting to buy the White Powder from me?”
She smiled at me, “If I am not wrong… They will be contacting me right about… Now.”
As though on cue, her personal terminal that she had left on the table at the side started to make ringing noises.
She tapped on the screen and a holographic projection of a hooded figure popped up above the screen.
“Whisper Tale…” The figure greeted.
Mara nodded at the hologram, “There you are. You’ve received my message about a sale, yes?”
“Yes. You said you have a contact who is selling White Powder, correct?”
“That’s right. We’ll arrange the trade at the usual location. Good enough for you?”
The cloaked figure hesitated for a moment, “About that… There’s a small problem.”
Mara’s lips curled downwards in a frown, “What problems could there be? Don’t tell me you retired because I know for a fact that you did not.”
“No, that’s not the problem… Our usual drop has been compromised.”
“Compromised? By who?”
“A bunch of smugglers that set up shop in this area recently. They pretty much strong armed everyone else out of the area.”
Mara’s brows furrowed, “And everyone just allowed that to happen?”
“Not so much as ‘allowed’ to happen… It’s more like they had moved there and hunkered down before anyone realised what they had done and now it’s too troublesome to even try to get them out since they’ve fortified the entire place.”
“Do they even know who that drop belongs to?”
“I believe they do…”
“So they are disrespecting me on purpose… Very well then. I shall deal with them, but am I right to assume that you are still interested in purchasing the White Powder?”
“Seeing that you are personally vouching for this Black Marketeer, I would definitely want it if the drop isn’t an issue.”
“Fine. Just be there at the usual time. That place will be cleared.”
“Of course.”
The hologram shut itself off, leaving a fuming Mara seated at the table.
I didn’t even get to mention how I did not expect to see a pissed off Mara when she turned to me, her eyes somehow making it feel like she was staring straight through me.
“Tera. If I may be so bold as to ask you for a favour… Could you transport me to a certain area and help me get rid of some idiots who have decided their lives are too useless and wish to die?”
I scratched my cheek, “Err… I mean… If you want us to help you clear out some people for you, we can do it I guess? As long as we know what we’re dealing with… Where is this place anyway?”
“It’s a large asteroid field about half a day’s travel away from here. And I will come with you. This is personal.”
“Umm… Ok… Quick question though… Why can’t we do the trade somewhere else? Like why do we even need this ‘drop’? In fact, couldn’t we just meet somewhere in space and then do the sale there?”
“For smugglers, drops like these are areas where we would exchange smuggled goods like this that we have identified to be safe to do so. And by that, I mean that there’s most likely no patrols from law enforcement and others that may report such an exchange to someone else that might take an interest in the exchange.”
“That… Kind of sounds like you’re painting a big target there for people to pay attention to?”
“It’s an unspoken rule amongst smugglers that a drop is kept secret. They aren’t doing it out of the goodness of their hearts but more because if a drop is compromised, it becomes harder for them to do business as well. That drop was a place that I claimed for my associates so for another group to claim it like that… They are basically declaring war on me and I intend to respond.”
Ok… This sounds complicated…
She stood up and placed the bottle of beer on the table, “I will be going with or without you, Tera. How soon would you be able to set off?”
Well… Since we’ve already reached this point… Right now I guess?
