Chapter 305: Are They All OP Like This?
“Ugghh… This is really not my specialty…” Mara groaned, her brows furrowed as she held up the falling crates in the air.
“Mara?” I gasped.
“Unngghh… Ask later… Deal with them first,” The doctor gasped, right before she pushed her hands forward.
The crates that had frozen in the air got sent flying back, confirming my suspicions that she was indeed a Psionic.
Mara huffed, “Damn it… I wasn’t expecting myself to be revealed like that… Screw it…”
I was about to ask her what she meant when she raised her hands and several of the crates rose up into the air.
She then flung her arms forward and the floating crates smashed against several of the smugglers, flattening them into the ground.
One of the smugglers popped out to shoot at Mara, his ballistic rifle firing several shots aimed at her chest.
I already knew she had a personal shield so I wasn’t that worried and got ready to blast the guy with my shotgun, but that was stopped when I realised that Mara had stopped the bullets in mid air with an upraised hand.
She then flicked her hand and the bullets were sent back at him, piercing through his head accurately.
Ah… I see now… The pistol wasn’t even her main weapon… Heck, I don’t even think she needed it.
As she had requested, I swallowed my questions for now and focused on dealing with the smugglers in front of us first.
One of them came out from their cover to point a tube shaped thing in our direction and I knew that was the guy who caused the explosion in the first place.
I immediately raised my gun and fired a round into his face, blasting him back against the wall and splattering his brain matter on it.
There were only three of them remaining and they opted to try and run away instead of fighting us.
I was just about to chase after them when Amber leapt over them and fired two shots, killing two of them with headshots.
The last guy suddenly stopped moving and I turned to see Mara’s hand stretched out towards the guy.
She then pulled her hand back and the smuggler flipped around and floated towards her.
I watched in fascination as she left him levitating in front of her while looking into his eyes.
Before I could question what she was doing, she flung her hand to the side and the smuggler got launched away to smash into the wall with a loud ‘crack’.
“Damn… I should have known…” Mara muttered, looking quite pissed.
Amber came over with a smug grin, “Seems like you couldn’t hide your secret after all, huh?”
I turned to Amber, “Wait… You knew?”
“Of course~”
“So… Can I ask now? Or is it still not the time yet?” I asked, turning back to Mara.
“After this… I’ll tell you everything. But the plan has changed, we’re blowing this place up, there’s no need to look for clues anymore. No… No, wait… Let’s stick to it. I need some physical evidence just in case.”
I raised an eyebrow, “Wait… So you already know who’s behind this? How… Oh… Telepathy?”
“Yes.. That’s my specialty actually. I already got what I need to know from reading that guy’s mind…”
I frowned slightly, “Does that mean…”
“I’ve never read your thoughts, Tera.”

Oh, ok… That’s actually–
“But I will admit that I’ve tried before. I’ve never read your thoughts not because I didn’t want to but because I can’t.”
“Eh?”
“There’s something that’s blocking me from reading your thoughts at all. So you don’t need to worry about that.”
Err… Well… I don’t really mind her reading my thoughts because it’s not like I have anything else to hide from her anyway… Aside from how hot I think she is and how much I wouldn’t mind bending her over the table and just doing whatever I wanted to her.
“What’s stopping you though?” I asked.
“I do not know. It’s like there’s some kind of barrier around your mind that’s stopping anything from going in or out. Anyway, I promise you that I will tell you everything later, Tera. This isn’t the most ideal place for me to tell you my life story.”
Hmm… I guess this would be a long story so let’s just do as she says for now.
“So where are we headed first? The Captain’s quarters?” I asked.
Mara nodded, “That’s the plan, yes. Although now I would say that you can stay behind me instead, Tera. I won’t be holding back anymore now that I know who is responsible for this and you already know this part about me anyway.”
“Should I ask?”
“Later… It’s not a story I like to share.”
I shrugged, gesturing for her to lead the way.
Just as she stepped forward, Amber holstered one of her pistols and took position beside me to wrap her arm around mine, causing Mara to pause and scowl at her.
“What are you doing?” The doctor asked.
Amber tilted her head, “Hmm? What do you mean? Since you would be handling any enemies that might appear, there’s nothing left for us to do anyway~ So I might as well just stay beside my darling Tera to accompany her~”
Mara was clearly not amused by her words, “I will choke you.”
Amber quickly hid behind me, “Oh no~ Help me Tera! The mean doctor is trying to bully me! Look, look! This is her real self! She abuses–”
“Amber, shut up,” Mara growled and my lover quickly snapped her mouth shut, even though her lips were still curled up in a smug smile.
Amber then gestured to her, “Look, this is your time to show how cool you are to Tera, right? Go, go~”
Mara continued to scowl at her but didn’t say anything else as she proceeded onwards through the door that led us out of the cargo bay.
The corridor behind it was empty and surprisingly clean, which was a stark contrast to how messed up the cargo bay was.
Maybe whoever was in charge here only cared about this part of the base while the cargo bay and the recreation room was not something they went to check everyday?
As we were walking down the corridor, a smuggler suddenly leapt out from one of the doorways with a knife in his hand.
Mara simply raised her hand to stop him in midair before raising it upwards to slam the poor guy face first into the ceiling, hard enough to dent the metal.
She then flipped her hand and lowered it down, prompting the guy to mimic the hand action to flip around before smashing face first into the ground with a loud splat.
Oh shit… His head actually got crushed…
Before I could even marvel at the brutality of the sight, two more smugglers jumped out from the corner in front of us and started firing their energy rifles at us.
Mara raised up her hand and the corpse of the first smuggler was raised to be turned into an impromptu shield to block the energy bullets shot at us.
With her other hand, she raised it to point her palm at one of the smugglers before raising her arm up slightly.
The smuggler let out a gasp as he dropped his gun to clutch at his throat, his body lifting a foot off the ground while his legs flailed around in the air.
The other guy continued to fire at us but Mara was still using the corpse to intercept the shots calmly before she swung her other hand to the side.
The smuggler she had been choking flew towards his colleague and slammed into him, forcing both of them to smash into the wall.
As thought that wasn’t enough, Mara dropped the corpse she had been using as a shield so that she could point the freed hand behind us to pull one of the heavy crates through the door.
She then swung it around and used it to smash into the two smugglers, leaving a bloody stain on the wall where the two guys were crushed.
Right then, I noticed a shimmer in the air and I realised that was an invisible enemy who was in the midst of leaping towards Mara.
“Watch–”
I didn’t even finish my warning when she raised her hand to stop the invisible guy in midair with an upraised hand.
“I know, Tera. I can hear his thoughts and it’s really loud,” Mara told me.
She then clenched her fist and there was a strangled cry before there was a loud ‘pop’ sound of something being crushed.
The silhouette shimmered and the smuggler’s invisibility deactivated, revealing he had arm blades out that he had been planning to use to skewer Mara.
That wasn’t even the thing that drew my attention as I realised the ‘pop’ sound came from his head exploding from being crushed by Mara.
She then went ahead to toss the headless corpse aside like it was just a bag of trash before continuing to strode forward.
Damn…
Are all Psionics this overpowered?
