Chapter 308: We Got What We Need, Now Let’s Blow It Up
I rushed over to Mara and caught her right before she fell onto the ground.
“Mara? You ok?” I asked, shaking her lightly.
“She’ll be fine. She’s done worse before,” Amber told me off-handedly, already looting the dead smugglers of their stuff.
I was just about to ask if Amber had seen Mara like this before when I felt something push against my boobs.
Looking down, I realised it was Mara hugging me and planting her face in between my bosoms and breathing in deeply.
“Mara?” I asked, not really bothered by what she was doing.
“Mmm… Ah… Sorry Tera…” she gasped before pulling away from me. ” I think I blacked out there for a second. That really took a toll on me.”
“So is this what you mean when you say this isn’t your specialty? That there’s a limit on what you can move telekinetically?”
“I guess since we’ve already reached this point… I can talk about it with you. Especially when I have no doubts you would meet up with more Psionics in the future…”
Amber then came over with a big grin on her face, “Well, that can wait! Looting is more important! Look what they have, Tera! These personal shields are really top of the line! I think you can only find them in the inner colonies! It’s a big upgrade over what we have!”
Ah, no wonder they were able to tank so many shots without breaking… I guess the more important people of this operation get the better equipment. That’s nice, we could–
Mara quickly shook her head, “No, don’t take any equipment here. Leave them.”
Not only Amber turned to give her a disappointed look, so did I.
She saw our faces and sighed, “Those things are definitely sponsored by the people backing them… They would have trackers placed on them and unless you want to risk them looking for us. We don’t take them.”
“Boo… Ries should be able to dismantle it though.”
“If you want to stay here for a few days and make your Maochatte disassemble all of these devices and risk their sponsor coming over here to check things out themselves… Mmm… I don’t recommend it.”
Amber cursed, “Fuck… And these are so good too… You don’t even find these in the military out here.”
She then threw the personal shields aside like they were trash, completely losing interest in them.
“What about the Credits though? They can’t have tracked the Credits too, right?” I pointed out.
Amber immediately turned back to give Mara a hopeful look.
The doctor hesitated for a moment, “Hmm… Those should be fine… But only take the Credit Chips you find on the corpses. If you find any stored in containers or boxes, don’t take those.”
We can work with that.
Amber immediately let out a yelp of glee and started looting again.
I would have joined her if Mara didn’t pull me back at the last second, “Wait. I need your help, Tera..”
I turned to her, “What is it?”
“I need to search their files. They should have some kind of terminal here that they use to contact their client. I need all the files they have and the machine would most likely be encrypted.”
Right… I guess she needs me to help her hack them to access those terminals. I can do that.
The both of us proceeded to look around the bridge to find such a terminal but there was none laying around.
“Maybe it’s stored on the leader’s personal terminal instead?” I suggested.
Both of us turned to look at the dead smuggler at the same time before I shrugged and went to pick up the personal terminal that I had discarded after saving Mara.

I tapped on the screen to close the application that controlled the metal box before swiping through his files to see if there was anything that stood out to me.
It didn’t take long for us to find a certain folder that had the literal folder by the name of ‘Target Information’ which both Mara and I shared a look before I opened it.
That prompted a new window to pop up that asked for the password so I connected my Codex to the personal terminal and started the hacking process.
Not even a minute passed before the folder opened up and we were now looking at files upon files of information that seemed to detail what they knew about Mara.
Those information included details like what she looked like, what her interest might be, her capabilities as a Psionic and even what her favourite food was.
I was just about to ask what kind of food was a ‘Babalon Surprise’ when she snorted beside me, “No wonder they didn’t storm the station to find me… This information is so outdated.”
“Ok, so who are these people, really?”
“You do have a right to know about this. But let’s talk back on the ship, we got what we need and I don’t want to stay here longer than I have to. I know what I need to do now,” She admitted, transferring the files I just opened into her own personal terminal.
Ok… I guess we’ll just have to finish looting the–
“I got all the Credit Chips, Tera! Slot them in your personal terminal! I think we got a jackpot with this! Three of them have silver Credit Chips and this guy has a gold one!!”
Oh damn… A gold Credit Chip can store more than a million Credits in that.
“Right, let’s take it back to the ship and I can do it there while Mara tells us her story I guess. How should we blow this place up though? Overload the generators or something?”
“No. We want to make it look like I didn’t come here. I made a mistake by doing that now that I’ve read those files… We’ll bombard them with the ship’s guns to make it look like the other smugglers came here to destroy them for taking over this place so that they won’t think I was the one who destroyed this place.”
Alright then, I bet Ries would be very happy to hear that we have another excuse to fire our cannons anyway.
We gathered all our things and headed back towards the airlock with Mara leading the way again.
We did another sweep of the place to make sure that there was no one left before we donned our spacesuits again to spacewalk out towards our ships.
Mara came with me again and we took our time to get everything ready before lifting off from the asteroid and flew back towards the ship.
“The Verlandi on approach vector,” I spoke into our comms.
“Welcome back Boss! Hangar bay doors are open for you!” Ries answered in an excited tone.
“Anything happened while we were gone?”
Lea answered me instead, “Not at all Mistress. The place was all quiet.”
Mara frowned, “No other ship came here? That bastard is late then…”
Oh right, I almost forgot we had also arranged a trade with some smuggler for the White Powder as well.”
Mara then begun tapping on her personal terminal and a hologram appeared showing that she was trying to call someone.
In the meantime, I angled my ship towards the hangar bay just in time to see that Amber was already ascending into her own hangar bay.
I guess she really wants to come and greet me first huh?
Right as I positioned the Varlandi underneath the hangar doors, Mara’s call connected.
“Where the hell are you?” She asked immediately.
Even without looking, I could hear from his voice that he was panicking, “Ah… That… Umm… Did you deal with those smugglers already?”
“You bastard… They bought you off didn’t they?”
“I… I had no choice, alright? I went over there and thought you had something new setup! Then all these ships came out of nowhere and surrounded me! They threatened to kill me and paid me Credits to keep my mouth shut about their trap! What do you want me to do?!”
“Bastard. Fine. You owe me. I’ll settle for whatever they paid you and you’ll buy the White Powder at a premium price. Forty five thousand Credits per bag.”
“What?! Wait! I wouldn’t be able to profit from that! That’s twenty two and a half million Credits! I don’t even have that much money on hand!”
“It’s just two and a half million more than the agreed price. You’re telling me you don’t even have that?”
“Not when you want me to pay you what they paid me to keep my mouth shut!”
“I’ll be happy to keep it at the original price that we agreed on if you owe me two favours that I can demand at any time for any reason at all, no questions asked.”
There was a slight pause from the other side before the guy let out a sigh, “Fine… That’s a deal… More because I’m afraid of what you can do to me than because I think it’s fair.”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing! Nothing! I’ll be there in an hour! Thank you for giving me another chance!”
The guy on the other side then ended the call.
Huh… Not gonna lie… Angry Mara is kind of hot.
