Chapter 311: She’s Coming With Us
“I can’t stay at Theeve anymore,” Mara announced while we were still flying back to the station.
Amber scoffed, “Oh really? I wonder why?”
Mara ignored her, “They most likely know that I’m in the area so I’ll have to pack my things and leave here before they start searching this system.”
I turned to her, “So what are your plans?”
“I’ve already contacted my staff there to start packing the place up and arranged an ‘accident’ to occur there to mask the fact that I was moving away.”
“What kind of accident?”
“I ‘accidentally’ leaked some information to some no-name thugs that it would be worth their time to rob my store.”
I understood her plan quickly, “Ah, so that it wouldn’t be suspicious if a Gene Splicer slash information broker suddenly disappears after that, right? So even if they were to search here, they would not immediately connect this case to you.”
She nodded, “That’s right. I don’t doubt that they will figure it out eventually but hopefully by then, I will be long gone.”
“Right… So I assume you want to move your stuff onto the ship?” I asked.
Mara turned to smile at me, “There’s no need to trouble yourself, Tera. I can just hire someone else to help me move them.”
I blinked, “Errr… Ok? I mean… Isn’t that a little risky though? We’d be involving another party to move your stuff here which might give your family another possible link to look for you.”
She stared at me for a moment before letting out a gasp, “Oh… Ohhh… Wait, you are… Inviting me to come along with your ship?”
I raised an eyebrow, “Was that not the plan? Isn’t that why you said that part out loud in the first place? Or else are you planning to just leave on your own?”
She pursed her lips at me, “Tera… You do know that to take me in… You would also have to deal with my problems as well, right?”
“Ok… So what do you call what we just did at the asteroid?”
“That’s different. We didn’t know that it was my family that set that up. But if you were to involve yourself with me any more than this, you would inevitably come into conflict with them.”
Amber scoffed, “Like as if we’re not already deep enough.”
Mara frowned at my blonde haired lover, “What do you mean by that?”
“Oh come now. You’ve tasted Tera’s cooking. What’s going to happen to you if you were to just cut off contact with us and go flying out to some far corner of space to stay away from us?”
The Doctor flinched, “It… I… I’ll deal with it.”
Amber smirked and started strutting towards Mara, “Oh really? Now picture this… Remember what Tera made for us before this? Now picture yourself somewhere in a lonely station in the middle of nowhere, eating your synthfood with no possibility of ever tasting Tera’s cooking again. And when you give in to the urges and try to make your own using organic ingredients, you realise that no matter what you make, you can never taste the same joy again.”
The blonde haired Merc leaned into Mara, causing the doctor to lean further back in her chair like she was being intimidated by some thug.
“And then even when you go to some fancy restaurant to eat their organic cooking… They can never match up to what you have missed…”
Oh come on, Amber, you’re really dramatising it aren’t you? It’s not like she was eating my food everyday after all… If Mara doesn’t want to come with us, then I also don’t want to force her to–
“Alright… I get it… I would probably either set out to find you guys or just end my life right there…”
Oh… Forget I said anything then.
And here I was worried about the fact that our medical bay did not have a doctor nor did it have any medical supplies… Guess this takes care of that.
Although…
“Umm… As much as I hope that is the case… You wouldn’t mind joining the ship as our permanent on-board doctor, right?” I asked.

Amber stepped away from her to allow Mara to answer me, “Honestly… If it means that I would be able to taste your cooking… Yes. But… Are you really alright with me? From what I can see, you hardly even need a doctor.”
“Well, better to have and not need you than to need you and not have you, right? Ok that sounds a bit wrong but you get what I mean.”
“Even though I come with the baggage of being hunted by Nobles? You’d probably not be able to do any work or business with them if I’m here.”
I shrugged, “Does it look like we deal with Nobles on a daily basis?”
“I’m thinking about the future, Tera. I have no doubt that you would one day reach heights that would land you in the inner colonies. Besides… You said you wanted to look for Earth, right? Then you would have to go there eventually and most likely you would run into Nobles.”
“Well… I’ll deal with it when the time comes and that’s probably not going to happen for a long while anyway.”
Mara’s lips curled up into a smile, “I actually don’t think it would take that long at all, but I’ll listen to you for now.”
I gestured at her, “Actually… I’m more concerned for you… You want to be a Gene Splicer in the first place so coming with us would kind of limit it, wouldn’t it? Are you ok with that?”
She giggled, “Ufufufu~ Actually… I could simply just work from your ship itself as a travelling Gene Splicer. That is, of course, assuming that you wouldn’t mind strangers coming aboard your ship?”
I thought about it for a moment, “Hmm… They would come through the cargo bay… Then pass through the security checkpoint where we could disarm them first before they go to the medical bay… I guess they would need to be escorted for this to work but…”
She raised a hand, “I’m not saying that I have to do this right now, Tera. I’m just saying that it’s a possibility. In fact, if you would like to mod yourself or any of the crew wants some gene splicing done, I would also be satisfied with that.”
I gestured in the direction of the workshop behind me, “I think Ries should be able to help with the escort issue since she’s making those drones, right? Maybe we can ask her if it’s possible first. I don’t want you to give up your own dream just to stay with us.”
She tilted her head, “Tera… Being free from my family and loving who I want to love is my dream. Gene Splicing is simply a hobby for me.”
“Ah… Right…” I cleared my throat, remembering that was indeed why she ran away from her family.
Before I could come up with a response though, she had pushed herself off her seat and crossed the space between us to lean over me, exactly like how Amber had done to her.
The only difference was that I didn’t lean back in my chair to move away from her and simply looked up at her wondering what she wanted to do.
She smirked, “I will admit… I had almost forgotten about my actual dream because I was so distracted by the threat of my family hunting us. But thanks to that little bitch over there–”
“Hey!!” Amber protested which Mara ignored.
“– I remembered what it actually was and so I wouldn’t be giving this up again if I am able to help it.”
I blinked, “Err… Ok? And that’s being free?”
“Oh no, it’s loving who I love instead of being forced to be bred by someone else that I have no interest in. In fact, if I had to choose, I would definitely not mind being bred by you~”
She moved the last few inches and wrapped her lips around mine in a kiss, her hands wrapping around the back of my neck to pull me closer to her.
She even stuck her tongue in my mouth and started tasting my tongue with hers.
It felt like she was going to escalate it even further when she was suddenly pulled back.
“Hey! Get in line you bitch!” Amber growled, pulling the doctor away from me.
While I was surprised by the sudden separation, the coy smile on Mara’s face and the slow lick of her lips showed that she was not even surprised by what happened.
Mara grinned at me, “Since we’re going to be shipmates now… I guess I should get used to this, don’t I? Perhaps you should show me to my room and… Maybe… Test out the bed with me?”
Oh wow… I was most definitely not expecting Mara to act like that.
I didn’t even get to respond because Amber started pulling her out of the bridge, “I’ll do that, you don’t need the Captain to do that!”
The two of them then left the bridge, leaving me and Lea alone on the bridge.
I turned to look at the Alv who looked back at me.
“Could I kiss you as well, Mistress?”
Not gonna say much, but I had a very happy Alv sitting on my lap when Mara and Amber returned.
