Chapter 340: Tracking The Source
“I know what I said about him but… Is it really alright to leave him behind?” Ries asked as we left the gambling den.
I turned back, “Didn’t we tell him that we would try and find this guy ourselves and then end this fake organic food boom which would free him from this?”
Amber gave me a surprised look, “Oh, you actually mean that? I thought that was just you saying that to stop him from trying to grab onto your foot to beg you to take him away.”
Ok… I will admit that was part of the reason since he actually tried to do that and I didn’t want to make a scene…
The good thing was that the manager guy wasn’t around to see or hear that since the smell got to him again and he had to rush out of the kitchen before he threw up.
I scratched my cheek, “I mean… I’m not really in favour of going out of our way to help him, especially since he tried to drug us and also because of what he’s done with all that organic ingredients… Fuck, now that I think about it, I don’t even think we’ll get anything from him… If he had kept those ingredients well stored, I might be tempted to help him just to get them… But since he screwed that up…”
Lea nodded, “I am in agreement, Mistress. He is not worth our help.”
Oh well, I guess you really are on your own chef guy. I wish you good luck though.
I turned to Mara, “So do you know where the guy might be?”
She paused for a moment as if to think, “Hmm… I will have to retrace his steps since I’m not familiar with the layout of the station. Word of warning, he did take a rather roundabout path so it might take a while.”
I shrugged, “It’s not like we have places to be, right?”
Mara chuckled, “Fufu~ I would normally agree to a nice stroll through the station but I will have to remind Captain of what kind of place this is.”
Oh right. This is that kind of place… Not gonna lie, I kind of forgot about that after our ‘peaceful’ gambling session in that gambling den.
Not to mention the fact that there’s supposedly a gang war happening as well so we might get caught up in it while we look for this guy.
Amber scoffed, “That’s fine isn’t it? Anybody who wants to mess with us, we’ll just shoot them and then loot them~ I see that as an absolute win, actually~”
If you put it like that… I will have to agree, I guess. I mean, I won’t say no to free loot, ok?
Mara ignored Amber and continued to look at me, silently showing that she would defer to my decision instead.
“I guess we might as well just go ahead with it since we’ve already got this far. I’m also kind of curious why this person would be supplying all this White Powder as ‘salt’ in the first place. Was this just a way for them to sell a large amount of White Powder quickly or is there some other reason behind this?”
Mara nodded, “Understood, in that case, follow me.”
She spun on her heels and started walking down the path towards a specific direction, prompting the rest of us to follow behind her.
Right now it was currently early ‘evening’ and there were more people out on the streets as compared to earlier, especially since it looked like we were walking through the part of the station where most of the night life entertainment operated.
The good thing was that it was still ‘early’ so the number of drunkards stumbling outside the streets were only a handful and the number of sober people still outnumbered them.
But that also means the number of sober idiots and thugs were also higher.
Which is why we barely even made it a few metres into this district before we were suddenly surrounded.
The leader was a tall woman with distinctively large breasts that I estimate to be the size of watermelons that was barely restrained by a crop top that showed off her abs.
She had a cybernetic left arm and the top left of her face was also replaced with a cybernetic where a red glowing eyepiece occupied where her left eye should have been.
“Look here girls. Got a couple of tourists, do we?” The thug growled, grinning at us.
The other thugs who were also female and sporting a similar outfit to their leader chuckled with her.
I noticed that they all had similar cybernetic enhancements so I’m guessing they all had a theme going on in this gang of theirs.
Mara waved at the leader, “We would be quite grateful if you could get out of the way. We’re busy right now.”

The larger sized woman who towered over all of us leaned over to glare menacingly at Mara, “Oh really? I’m sure that whatever you are busy with could wait for a few hours or so just to have some fun with us, right?”
“Not interested. Why don’t you go find some men to keep you company instead?”
“Oh but we like girls better! Especially the pretty ones like you who are here to tour around! You have no idea what kind of place this is, do you?”
Amber stepped beside Mara and made a show of flashing her pistols at her, “Trust me. We do. And if you don’t fuck off right now, I’ll make sure you aren’t fucking with anyone after this.”
The leader turned her sights to Amber, “Oh wow, where did you get those pea shooters? The nearest convenience store as soon as you entered? Bahahaha!”
The other thugs surrounding us also laughed aloud, making me think if all of them shared one brain cell or something.
The leader then knocked her fist against her abs, the action making a metallic clanging sound instead of the fleshy sound you might expect.
“Reinforced subdermal armour little cutie. You’ll need bigger firepower if you want to threaten me~ Try bringing a tank next time~”
Just as I was about to pull out my shotgun to threaten her next, a voice came from behind the leader.
“You’re in the way. Move or be moved.”
The leader growled and half turned her body to reveal a thin man wearing a trench coat and a bowler hat standing behind her.
“What did you say to me, you punk?”
“I said move or be moved,” He repeated.
“Oh how about I move you instead?!” She roared, pulling back her fist before punching forward.
The guy raised his left hand and I saw a blade pop out from his arm and the edges glowed red right before he swung it in an arc.
The taller woman froze midswing, her fist stopping just a few inches away from him.
There was a soft creak before a line appeared diagonally down her torso and the top half of her body fell to the right while the bottom half fell to the left.
One of the other thugs let out a yell and tried to charge at him and all he did was swing his arm again and her head was separated from her body.
Another tried to lunge at him and he sidestepped the attempt before slashing the same arm downwards as she passed him, cutting her in half at the waist.
The other thugs let out a cry of fear before they ran off, obviously not willing to meet the same fate as their comrades.
I stepped up to him and opened my mouth to thank him when he held up his hand to stop me.
“I didn’t do this for your thanks. The same thing applies to you as well, move or be moved.”
Well, whatever, it’s not a problem for us to just step out of the way for–
Someone suddenly charged towards the guy and stabbed a sword through his side, the bowler hat guy’s eyes widening in shock before the glowing sword was pulled out from his body and slashed across his neck to decapitate him.
“Hahaha! Bowler Hat Andy! Your bounty is mine!”
The new guy revealed himself to be a lanky and dishevelled looking man wielding a katana with a glowing edge.
He didn’t even acknowledge us as he bent down to pick up the decapitated head but as soon as his hand touched the head, a gunshot rang out and his head was blasted open.
Looking in the direction of where the shot came from, a guy with a horse face was standing a few feet away with his pistol still smoking in his hand and pointed at the dead swordsman.
“Slasher Gack. Bounty of sixty thousand Credits, eliminated at–”
The horse head guy didn’t even finish his monologue when a burst of semi automatic fire came from the side, peppering him with bullet holes and killing him.
Another guy jumped in while hefting his assault rifle on his shoulder, “Fuck yeah! Germaine Horseface! Your bounty is–”
And then the guy got shot with an arrow through the throat before he could finish.
Mara turned to me and asked in a very calm voice, “Let’s go, Captain. There’s still some distance to cover.”
She then stepped over the dead swordsman and continued walking, ignoring the people literally being killed in front of us.
Holy crap, is this really a normal thing here?!
Wait, I guess it is… Fuck it… Let’s just… Oh look, Credit Chip! I’ll take that~ And this sword too~ And this gun too!
