Chapter 350: What Happened Overnight At The Guild?
I told the girls that I would ‘think about it’ for the question of whether to include my honey in my cooking.
But right now, we have more important matters on our hands…
That is, of course, going back to the Guild building to start cooking again.
Since Tyle said the organic ingredients would be sent there today, I was kind of looking forward to seeing what we were given so I could try making new dishes.
When I went into the Guild building, I found it was even more crowded now as compared to before.
That’s not to say that there were more customers because more than half of them were currently tied up and left on the floor…
Then the other half who were not tied up looked like they were being held there at gunpoint.
What the heck is going on here? Are we being robbed right now?
Someone I didn’t recognise step out to block my way into the guild, his brows furrowed in an unfriendly manner.
“What’s your business here?” He asked, hefting the rifle in his hands in a not so subtle threat.
“Err… Sorry but is this some kind of robbery or kidnapping going on right now? Are you one of the gangs here to take over this place?”
He frowned, “If you don’t know what’s happening here then you are not welcome. I suggest you get out or be–”
Someone smacked him hard on the head and made him stumble a few steps to the side.
I realised it was the same woman from the first batch and she’s… Actually looking pretty good now after she cleaned up. The last time I saw her she was still dressed in clothes that were torn up and she was pretty dishevelled looking back then.
The new guy turned back to shoot her a frantic look, “But… But they… They’re intruders?”
“You idiot!! She’s the one!!”
The colour drained out of the guy’s face and he turned back to me with wide eyes before he fell onto the ground to prostrate himself.
“Please forgive me! I did not know!!”
What the heck is going on?
The woman turned back and bowed deeply, “Please forgive us. Most of the newcomers do not know about your likeness. We will work to rectify this as soon as we can.”
Err… Ok? I don’t really think it’s that serious anyway?
“I don’t really mind that… I’m more concerned with what’s going on here? Why are there suddenly so many people?”
She straightened herself, “We have been working on gathering as many people as we could and saving as many of them as well, Miss! Hmm… That address sounds a little wrong…”
She muttered the last part out but I still managed to catch it but it just made me more confused.
“Wait… So you guys have been gathering up people the entire night? Did you guys even rest at all?”
“Of course not! How could we rest when we know that you are doing your best to help us right now? We will only rest after the work is done!”
What work? I thought we were just testing the food out? Why did it suddenly turn into a situation where we have to save people?
Obviously I didn’t say that out loud and just decided not to address it at all.
Instead, I tried to change the topic, “Right… So… Are the organic ingredients here yet?”
“Yes! Mister Tyle is waiting for you in the kitchen!”

“Right. I suppose I should go see him then.”
Before I could walk past her, she raised her hand to get my attention.
“Erm… Forgive me but I have to ask… What should we do with him?”
She gestured at the guy who was still prostrating on the ground.
I raised an eyebrow at her, “Erm… Nothing? He’s doing his job isn’t he?”
“Understood. Thank you for your benevolence!”
What the heck did she think I was going to do? Shoot him?
You know what… Don’t answer that… Because the guy started thanking me profusely so I think he actually thought I was going to do that…
Ah, right… I keep forgetting this is Denibi… That would be normal here…
I stepped past the doorway and started making my way to the kitchens with the girls, the woman also following along behind me.
There were a few people who gave me weird looks when I walked in but none of them said anything. At least the ones who weren’t gagged weren’t saying anything while those that were tied up and gagged made distressed noises at me as I passed by.
I’m guessing these were the people who had more serious cases of being addicted than the others that were not tied up.
I ignored them and went towards the kitchen where it was also guarded by two armed men, making me feel like I was in some kind of military facility rather than the Mercenary Guild…
The two men frowned when they saw me approach until their gaze shifted to the woman following us, their postures straightening the moment they saw her.
I thought they would say something when I walked up to them but they just remained quiet as I stepped in between them to walk through the kitchen doors.
Not gonna lie, I’m having really weird vibes about this entire place right now and I don’t know why.
I mean… After I remembered that this was Denibi station, having this much security for such a large gathering made sense so why am I getting a tingle down my spine right now?
I pushed those thoughts aside and stepped into the kitchen.
The first thing I noticed was that there were three boxes stacked in the corner of the kitchen which I assumed were the organic ingredients.
Tyle was there and it looked like he was hunched over the counter trying to work on creating more of the sauces that I taught him to make and, judging by the far off look in his eyes, he probably hasn’t slept.
“Tyle?” I called out to him.
He flinched a little and he lost his grip on the bottle in his hands, causing it to slip from his hand and fall onto the sauce bottle he was filling up.
That ended up knocking the bottle over and spilling the sauce he had already mixed all over the counter, ruining it.
Oof… My bad.
He clenched his fist and turned to face me with furrowed brows, “I said no one is supposed to– Oh… Hi Miss Tera. I didn’t think you would come here so early…”
“I mean… You did tell me that it was coming in the morning, right? So of course I would be here. Anyway… Sorry about startling you.”
He turned back to the counter and finally realised that the liquid was still being spilled and quickly righted the bottle to stop it.
He let out a sigh, “Don’t worry about it… I don’t think it would have turned out well anyway.”
“Don’t say that, I think what you made is still pretty good. Definitely better than any other restaurants I’ve been to including those that serve organic food. Heck, the food you made is light years better than the one I was served at the gambling den you told me to visit the last time.”
“They must have been pretty bad then.”
I don’t know if I should be impressed or concerned that his first guess was that they were bad and not because he was good…
I nodded at the boxes in the corner, “So… What did we get?”
He turned towards the boxes, “I don’t know, I haven’t opened them actually… I thought you might want to be the first one to open them instead.”
“In that case, you don’t mind if I go and open it now, do you?”
“Be my guest.”
I went over to the first box and flipped open the lid, peering inside it to see what we were given.
…
What the heck is this?
I reached inside and pulled out a piece of… Thing… That was green in colour.
At first I thought it was rotten meat but it doesn’t give off that kind of smell so it shouldn’t be rotten… Right?
Tyle took one look at it and perked up, “Oh, that’s Balagor meat. Been a while since I last saw one.”
“I’m… Going to assume that’s some kind of animal?”
“Yeah. They were found in the outer colonies and domesticated. Tastes like a mix of chicken and pork if you ask me.”
I placed it back and pulled out a… Blue vegetable?
“Oh wow, that’s Laycrum Leaves. Those are pretty expensive even in these parts. Looks like our benefactor is really pulling out all the stops for this. That, or these are from his own personal storage and he’s just giving them to us to ensure the gangs won’t be a problem. Yeah… I think that’s more likely.”
I placed it back inside the box again and I realised that pretty much everything in there looked alien to me.
How the heck am I supposed to use this?
