Chapter 351: Balagor Meat
Ok, there’s a whole bunch of unfamiliar food inside here…
Correction, everything inside the boxes were completely unfamiliar to me.
Everything in here is alien… There’s not a single organic ingredient that I even recognise.
Where do I even start then…
If there were ingredients I recognised, I could just prepare them alongside these alien ingredients to complement them. But without anything like that, I don’t know how I should arrange or prepare them…
Should I just treat them like the ingredients I know? No, no… That won’t do… Let’s just search the GalaNet to see if there’s any recipes or instructions for these ingredients in particular.
…
…
Of course, what was I expecting? There’s literally nothing useful here at all about how to cook them…
The only things I’ve found about them is literally to just chuck them into an autocooker and let them deal with it.
Yeah… Not really helpful.
“Do you know how to cook these things?” I asked Tyle.
He chuckled, “Miss Tera… You’ve seen my kitchen. I’ve only ever tried to make synthfood so there’s no way I would know how to cook them at all. Even that Balagor meat I’ve only probably tasted them a few times throughout my life but I never thought of buying one to try and make it myself. I would definitely just ruin it.”
Right… I thought I’d just ask in case he actually knew…
I turned to the girls and all of them shook their heads quickly before I could say anything.
Well alright then…
“Would anyone mind if I waste these ingredients by experimenting on them?”
Tyle raised an eyebrow at me, “Experimenting? Like what? Are you going to inject them with something?”
“Not that kind of experimenting… I meant like trying different ways to cook them to figure out what’s the best way to use them.”
“I don’t see a problem with that?”
“Like I said, I will be experimenting on them so the end result might not even be good and I would end up wasting them by throwing them away.”
“Oh, you don’t need to throw them away! There will definitely be people who would want to eat whatever you make so it’s fine!”
“Even if it ends up being a charred, inedible mess?”
“I’m sure even then it would still be delicious.”
The girls also nodded their heads enthusiastically to agree with him.
Ok… I believe all of you are just either exaggerating or you girls really believe I’m infallible… Which in my opinion is pretty bad to believe…
I’m also capable of making mistakes, you know?
Still, I decided not to say anything and just took this as their way of saying that they didn’t mind me testing out different ways to cook this.
Before that, there was one problem I wanted to ask about…
“What about the people outside? There’s like an entire crowd waiting to be fed, right?”

Tyle nodded, “You need not worry, Miss Tera. I will be the one handling them. I still have the sauces that you have made from before so they can still be saved via my cooking. Although I suppose I would need to trouble you if we come across some especially troublesome ones.”
I shrugged, “I’ll do my best.”
“In that case, please feel free to use the kitchen however you like, Miss Tera.”
Amber then spoke up, “What about us?”
Tyle paused for a moment before looking at the door, “Could I trouble you all to help maintain order outside as well? We’re short on hands to manage the crowd…”
“Ohhh~ That sounds like a job we can do! Right girls?”
Lea and Mara nodded at her confidently while Ries only nodded after seeing the other two agree with her.
Tyle clapped his hands together, “Great! With you girls helping as well, I think we can go through the newcomers faster. You can ask one of the guards outside to lead you to them.”
Huh? Newcomers? What is he even talking about?
Ah… Maybe he’s referring to distributing food to the newcomers and watching over them to make sure they don’t cause any trouble? Yeah, that makes sense.
In that case, I guess I can just concentrate on experimenting with these alien ingredients then.
Let’s see… How do I even deal with this meat? What did they even call this again? Bala something meat? Balagor was it?
Who even comes up with names like that?
Whatever, I’m not gonna question it.
I placed that slab of green meat on the counter and poked it with my finger, trying to gauge the consistency and tenderness of the meat.
Hmm… Tyle said that this supposedly tastes like a mix of chicken and pork yet this texture reminds me of beef… So how should I cook this?
I guess let’s just wing it and try to cook it like it’s beef considering how the texture feels like? Yeah, let’s do that.
I took up the slab of meat and placed it on the counter before I started to lather it with oil and season it with some salt and synthpepper.
I then looked around to see what else I could work with when I spotted the bottles of beer and an idea hit me.
“Hey Tyle… I can use those beers as well, right?”
“If you’re going to get drunk…”
“No, no. For cooking, not for drinking.”
“You can cook with beer? Ah… I mean… Of course, go ahead, Miss Tera.”
Great~
I placed the meat on a plate and went over to get one bottle of beer which I poured into a bowl which I then mixed in some garlicky sauce that I made into it.
Once that was properly mixed, I gently poured it over the Balagor meat and prepared to take it to the fridge where I would then leave for an hour or so.
But then I heard a bubbling sound from the plate and I looked down to see the meat soaking up the beer marinade completely, the meat swelling up slightly from the liquid it just soaked up.
Woah… That’s… Pretty cool.
I prodded it with a finger which caused it to compress slightly and leak out some of the marinade back onto the plate. But when I removed my finger, the beer it leaked out was sucked back into the meat again.
Ok, let’s just try it out like this.
I brought it over to the stove and got myself a pan that I sprayed with some cooking oil before turning on the stove to heat up the pan.
Leaving it there for a moment, I went ahead to try and drain any excess liquid from the plate but it seems like the meat really soaked up pretty much all the liquid there was.
Well, here goes nothing then…
I dropped the meat onto the pan and it started to sizzle quite quickly, then I noticed that it deflated a little, causing some of the marinade to fill up a portion of the pan I was cooking it on.
The meat then slowly changed from that green colour into a more familiar brown and I flipped it over to cook the other side until the entire meat was the same colour.
I considered just cooking it all the way to well done since this was a meat that I never tried before but decided to just stop at it being medium instead before I took it out of the pan and onto a plate.
There was still some marinade left in the pan and I decided why the hell not and went over to pick up those blue vegetables that I had found earlier.
Err… If I remember correctly, these are Laycrum Leaves or something?
They kind of look like broccoli that had been chopped up except they were blue in colour and the leafy parts were pea sized. It kind of looked like a small tree that was growing berries or something.
I tossed a few of them into the pan and started frying them inside the sauce.
This time, I didn’t see any change in colour but there was a rather sweet and savoury smell coming from the pan after a while which I took as an indication that it was cooked.
I then transferred them over to the same plate that the meat was on before covering it with the rest of the sauce from the pan.
Hey… This actually looks and smells pretty good.
And judging by how Tyle was literally drooling at the side, I believe he thinks so too.
“Grab some utensils and let’s try it. I want to get your opinion on this too.”
The guy practically sprinted away to do as I asked and returned with two sets of forks and knives, handing one pair to me with an excited look on his face.
I could almost see the metaphorical tail wagging behind him as he watched me turn towards the food on the plate in front of us.
I cut out a piece for myself before he did the same, the bartender waiting for me to place the meat in my mouth first before he tasted it as well.
Oh, this chews like beef but it really does taste a bit like chicken and pork. The beer and garlic marinade also–
My thoughts were interrupted when Tyle suddenly fell onto his knees and I thought he got a stomachache or something before he let out a cry with tears streaming down his face.
“Goddess! You truly are a Goddess!! I never thought this can ever taste this good!! This is a miracle!!!”
…
Err… Ok… Calm down dude…
