Chapter 353: They Want A Title
So yeah… I got so into it that I didn’t think I would actually spend the entire day doing nothing but cooking.
I already lost count of how many dishes I made but I practically emptied out the entire stash of organic ingredients.
Not gonna lie, there were some things in there that I had absolutely no idea how to cook and I just tossed it in a pot or seared it on a pan.
Somehow, they all turned out at least palatable even though I was really unsure of what I was doing.
A few I thought might end up being failures still end up being rather well done… Somehow…
Like there was one I even decided to just try grilling it over an open flame to see how far I could go and… Yeah… It still turned out relatively well.
And for the record, I didn’t even season it… I just literally stuck a knife into the meat and grilled it over the fire just to see the results of it…
I mean… It wasn’t like… Really, really extraordinary, like the others that I actually took the effort to cook properly but it was still better than the Synthfood that you could buy or most of the organic meals I have tried in those restaurants.
I will have to admit that the bar was pretty low for the latter but hey… It’s a fact.
The only thing remaining from the stash was the pile of Laycrum Leaves that I had set aside for another test of mine.
I thought that since these tasted sweet, I could perhaps try to make some dessert out of them like maybe some cake or something.
But now I have another problem.
How was I supposed to make a dessert when the remaining ingredients are either Synthfood or just the Laycrum Leaves themselves?
Hmm… What kind of dessert can I even make with this?
I picked one of the leaves up and tried to chew on one of the bulbs, marvelling at the sweet liquid that flooded my mouth from the bulb bursting open when I bit on it.
It kind of tastes like apple juice to be honest, which was weird considering this was supposed to be a vegetable.
If I wanted to make a dessert, I wanted to make something that involved combining this with something instead of just chewing on it at least. But what could I do with it?
Hmm… Maybe I should just ask Tyle if he has any ideas?
Right as that idea came to mind, the door opened again and the person I was thinking about walked in.
I waved at him, “Oh hey Tyle. If you’re looking for more food, I have some bad news. We’re all out.”
He shook his head, “Don’t worry, I am aware. We’ve already stopped for today. Would you like to know how many people have been converted?”
‘Converted’? Odd way of saying that but I understood he most likely meant that those people were brought back from their addicted ways or something. I guess I can cut him some slack since he’s been working for probably more than twenty four hours by now.
I nodded at him, “How many?”
“We have about three hundred people now. It’s merely a small dent in the population who are affected but I’m pretty sure that the Station Master will see this as a big deal since we’re making progress. He should be sending more resources our way and we would start making an even bigger impact soon enough.”
“Does that mean he’ll pay us the reward for solving the problem too?”
Tyle grinned, “I’ll make sure he does, don’t worry.”
I guess that’s nice to hear… Though to be honest, I would happily just take those organic ingredients as payment if he doesn’t want to pay anyway.
“Putting that aside…” I muttered, turning towards the Laycrum Leaves on the counter. “I know you already said you don’t really cook with organic ingredients but have you heard of any recipes that involve making this? More specifically for sweets?”
He raised an eyebrow, “Sweets? That’s… I’m afraid that’s the first time I’ve even heard of someone even considering to use this ingredient for sweets…”
I blinked at him, “Wait… No one? Really? But this gives such a sweet taste though?”

“Yes it does… People usually just eat it as it is though… At least I think they do? Most of the time when I see it, they’re being eaten as expensive snacks. If there are any recipes involving these, I am unfortunately not aware of them…”
Well… I already wasn’t expecting him to know so it wasn’t that surprising I guess.
Tyle then spoke up again, “Oh, I almost forgot. There’s also something else I need your input for.”
“What is it? Just saying, I’m not looking for more crew so if there were anyone asking, I’m only interested if they’re a hot girl.”
He was about to answer me before he paused, “Ah… That wasn’t what I was going to say but should I ask if any of the girls are interested in joining your crew?”
“I’m joking, Tyle… There’s no need for that. So what was it that you wanted to tell me?”
“Right… Umm… We figured that after all that you’ve done for everyone, it would be a little rude for us to still refer to you as ‘Miss Tera’. We’re wondering if there is a specific form of address that you would prefer?”
I made a face at him, “Tyle… Seriously?”
He smiled wryly, “I know it may seem like a non-issue but just indulge us on this. There are people out there who are really grateful that you have saved them and they really feel weird addressing you so casually.”
I made a face at him, “What? Why? It’s not like I’m some noble, right? There’s no problem in just addressing me casually.”
“That’s not the problem, Miss Tera. It’s just a matter of principle where they feel if they don’t at least show some respect to you, they would be downplaying their previous state and they fear it might cause a relapse, you see.”
“What? How does that even work?”
“Hmm… Something about if they don’t make a big deal out of it, it would be easier for them to slip back into the addiction I believe. I mean… That’s what they collectively told me anyway, I’m just a messenger.”
I scratched my head, “Well… I’m not the best person to decide this aren’t I? I seriously don’t care about this…”
“In that case, would it be alright if I just told them you left it to us to decide?”
I shrugged, “Yeah, sure, whatever.”
I don’t really care anyway since I believe that once we’re done with this problem, we’ll be leaving here and probably not return for a very long time. So by then, they should have already forgotten about this and moved on.
He nodded, “That’s all I need then. Thank you, Miss Tera.”
I raised my hand just as he was about to turn away, “Hold on a moment… There’s also something I need to tell you.”
He turned to give me a worried look, “What is it?”
I chuckled, “You look like you’re expecting me to start extorting you or something. Relax. I just want to tell you that I’ll be returning to my ship to get some ingredients. There’s some ideas I want to try with this but I’m lacking the ingredients here.”
“Oh… Of course. Please allow me to apologise for not having the ingredients you need.”
“That’s not your fault. Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say so I’ll be leaving for a bit.”
“Wait, Miss Tera? Should I arrange for some people to follow you along to help?”
“No need, the ship is just a couple of streets down and I’m only intending to bring back minimal stuff so I’ll be back quickly.”
“Are you sure, Miss Tera?”
“Of course? Why wouldn’t I be sure? Now run along, you have more important business than I do, don’t you?”
“That… I don’t really think what I’m doing is more important, Miss Tera…”
“Damn Tyle, I was joking again. Did you lose your sense of humour or something? Anyway, I’ll be going now, alright?”
“Ah. Of course. Please be careful, Miss Tera.”
I left the kitchen and stepped out into the main Guild area.
Huh? The place was practically deserted.
I was expecting this place to be filled with people but I guess they must have gone home for the night or something? But Amber and the other girls were also nowhere to be seen as well… Maybe they’re doing a debriefing somewhere else?
Deciding not to question it, I walked out through the main entrance and I realised that the guard there had also left.
As I started walking down the street to my ship, I suddenly felt like I was being followed.
Not again… Don’t tell me it’s another batch of those crazy people addicted to the drug…
I guess I’ll just tell them to go to the Guild to look for food to satisfy their cravi–
Someone bumped into me from the side and I found myself taking a step back to prevent myself from falling.
As I turned to see who was the idiot that bumped into me, I felt someone grab me from behind and a jolt of pain shot up my arm.
Right as I was about to lash out at the person who grabbed me, I suddenly lost all strength in my limbs and everything went black.
