Chapter 363: Oh, Hey Girls
Thankfully the light machine gun seemed to have survived the blast as I found it under a pile of metal scraps.
It looks battered but it was still functional at least.
I went ahead to equip it on my back again before moving towards the door at the other end of the hall.
At this point, the shouting and shooting coming from the other side was already loud enough that I could hear from this side of the door.
I was a little worried tht there were more people than I could handle but since it wasn’t like I had a choice anyway, I pressed the button to open the doors and got ready to mow down whoever was on the other side.
There was a loud alarm sound coming from the speakers alerting the door being opened and I guess it was too much to expect a large door like this to open quickly and quietly.
I braced the light mahine gun and levelled the barrel at the door, my finger resting on the trigger.
When the door finally opened a big enough crack for me to look through it, I realised the next room was supposed to be a storeroom presumably to hold the things produced by the machines here.
That room had been turned into a small fort as I saw improvised barricades, heavy machine guns and even automated turrets had been set up in that room. Alongside those defense, an even larger number of thugs were also inside that room and right now, every single one of them plus those defenses were firing whatever they had down at a specific corridor.
Damn… If whoever is attacking this place could get through defenses like this, I don’t think I can get through them to escape either…
Just as I though of that, the thug that had been manning a machine gun turret suddenly had his head blown apart and the corpse fell limp on the turret’s seat.
Another thug went up to grab the corpse and pulled it off the turret like this was a normal occurrence and simply took over in manning it.
Not even a second after he took that position, his head got blown off in the exact same way.
Damn…
I tried to look for a way out of here until I heard someone shouting above the gunshots.
“Fuck! They have a Psionic!!”
I froze.
A Psionic? Could it be?
I squinted my eyes and turned towards the corridor that they were firing at, right as an explosion of fire blasted through and incinerated several thugs that had been unfortunate enough to stand in the way.
Several thugs tried to fire at the corridor but the bullets seemed to be redirected away and a few of them even bounced back to accurtely pierce through the heads of some of the thugs.
Then, as if waiting for the most dramatic of times, Mara walks out with her right hand raised, deflecting the bullets aimed at her like it was nothing.
She raised her other hand slowly and an automated turret that had been aimed at her seized up before spinning around in unison with her hand to start firing at the thugs instead.
The thugs the turret was shooting at started to panic and scattered for cover, only for Amber, who appeared out of literal nowhere, to gun them down with her dual pistols, blowing each of their heads off with precise shots.
Ries was next to reveal herself, the Maochatte laughing maniacally as she wielded a grenade launcher in one hand and a rifle with a drum mag in the other.
She fired both guns at once, blowing up a machine gun emplacement with a grenade while spraying bullets from her rifle that blew off the heads of a group of thugs.
Another thug climbed out from his cover with his hand poised to throw a grenade, only for a sniper round to pierce through his wrist and force him to drop the grenade.
The thug screamed out in pain right before the grenade blew up underneath his feet.
I finally spotted Lea who had been laying prone behind in the shadows of the corridor as she lined up her next shot.
Damn, so the girls actually came here to rescue me? I’m surprised they even knew I was here in the first place.
Well, no reason to let them do all the work~

I didn’t think about calling out to the girls first since I didn’t want to draw attention to myself yet and I figured that they should notice me soon enough.
I checked that the machine gun I was holding was properly loaded and ready to fire before jumping into the fight. And by that, I meant gunning down the thug that was closest to me with a burst of machine gun fire.
Since I wasn’t the only one that was shooting from the back, they didn’t even realise they were being attacked from behind until a good number of them had been killed by me.
A few of them turned around and fired at me but my shield shrugged off their attacks while I shredded them with a hail of bullets.
Since they built their fortifications with the idea to defend it against anyone attacking from the front but not the back, it ended up being to my advantage as I made use of the cover and defenses they made against them instead.
“We’re being shot from behind!”
“Fuck! Didn’t they say there were only four of them?!”
“Where the fuck did she come from?”
“I don’t know! But fucking kill her already!”
I ducked behind one of the improvised barricades to take cover from the hail of bullets fired in my direction from some thugs that tried to charge at me.
Without waiting for the shooting to stop, I popped out from the cover and let my shield take the hits while I fired back at my assailants.
The entire group dropped like flies and they figured out that charging towards me was probably a bad idea.
They tried to seek cover to avoid my rain of bullets. But they realised in their bid to avoid me, they have completely forgotten about the threat on the other side of me.
A large piece of debris ended up getting sent flying at one of the groups by Mara, the debris crushing the thugs that had been hiding there.
I looked over to where the girls were and they did not seem to have noticed me yet.
And here I thought she did that because she was trying to combo with me.
Oh well, guess I’ll just focus on my own side of the fight.
I moved towards the side and fired a few rounds at the thugs who were still focused on shooting at the girls.
Vaulting over one of the barricades, I held down the trigger and mowed down a few more thugs from behind before pulling out my knife to wield it in my other hand.
One of the thugs turned and tried to shoot at me but I simply tanked the hits with my shield and went over to slice open his throat with my knife.
I then shot open the face of another thug before ducking under a barricade to avoid a thug firing a shotgun at me.
Since he was using a pump action shotgun, I waited for him to fire another round and was busy racking it to pop back out to mow him down with a burst of machine gun fire.
Moving further up, I caught a thug in the midst of reloading his rifle. Beside him were several other thugs who were still shooting at Amber and the others while blissfully unaware that I was right behind them.
He panicked when he saw me and tried to load his magazine in faster but fumbled and dropped the magazine instead.
The magazine ended up rolling to my feet so I went ahead to kick the magazine and sent it flying back to smash into the thug’s face.
That bought me time to run over to kick him in the chest and step on him to force him onto the ground while I held down the trigger of my machine gun to shred the rest of the thugs into pieces.
He tried to shake me off so I stomped down on his throat, letting him choke on it for a while as I had to duck my head to avoid a few shots and returned fire at another group of thugs hiding behind a barricade.
When the thugs shooting at me took cover, I directed my attention back to the one on the ground and took my knife to stab into his chest, letting him bleed out as I continued my rampage.
I kicked down another barricade to expose another group of thugs and filled them with holes before raising my knife to parry a thug charging at me with his own knife and blasting his abdomen open.
One of them tried to swivel his heavy machine gun emplacement to shoot at me so I used the thug I just killed as a shield to block the shots while I moved into cover.
I dropped the corpse to switch him out for a grenade on one of the other corpses and threw it at where the emplacement was, blowing it and the thug manning it to pieces.
Stepping over the barricade, I was fully prepared to shoot even more thugs when I realised everyone else was dead and the girls were looking up at me with wide eyes.
Why are they all looking at me like that?
