Chapter 370: No Stealth Options Here
According to the information that Mara managed to ‘extract’ from the thugs we faced, the factory was abandoned after some explosion or something destroyed most of the building.
This gang then went ahead to claim the building for themselves and made it one of their hideouts.
Even though I say ‘building’, it really is just a network of rooms linked together by some corridors that were under the station’s ground floor.
To get there, we had to take an elevator down to an underground corridor that we had to navigate to get to the entrance.
It was supposedly the perfect place for them because the factory itself was made to manufacture illegal weapons so it was already built in a secluded location out of view from everyone else.
Unfortunately, that means that we would be primarily fighting in close quarters so Lea would not be able to set up somewhere to watch over us from a distance but instead, follow us into the building.
Lea did say that it would not be an issue for her so we just proceeded to the factory.
Incidentally, our plan to deal with this group was to just literally walk up through the front door and attack them from there.
Apparently because of the damage that the factory went through, they had to seal off the parts of the factory that were in danger of collapsing so there was only a single entrance that also functioned as the exit.
So it’s not like we have much of a choice anyway and they won’t have anywhere to escape to once the fighting starts.
Seems like they were really depending on the fact that it was hidden in this corner of the station to protect them from attacks.
I suppose a straightforward plan like that isn’t bad either.
As we neared the location of the factory, we did a final check on our equipment to make sure everything was ready before we approached the entrance.
“The entrance is just up ahead,” Mara informed us, slowing down our advance as we neared a corner. “Unfortunately, the information I have is limited to the location of the factory and not its interior nor how many people are stationed here. We’ll have to adapt and deal with any surprises that might come up.”
I looked at the others, “Are we busting down the door or are we doing this as quietly as we can?”
Ries pouted, “Eeeehh… I hate sneaking the most… Can’t we just bust down their door and shoot everybody inside?”
Lea raised her hand slightly, “I am in favour of sneaking in.”
Amber made a face, “Tera… In case you haven’t realised, none of our weapons are equipped with suppressors. We’re going to make a lot of noise and I think trying to sneak in would just take more time than we need to. You know, since Mara can just flatten the entire place anyway.”
I grimaced, “Right… I guess we’re just going to try and do this as fast as possible then. Are we ready?”
All of them nodded at me.
Alright, guess we’re doing this…
I turned around the corner and… I was met with two automated turrets hanging on the ceiling making a beep sound before they swivelled to point their barrels at me.
I immediately dove back around the corner and shoved the girls back into hiding, which thankfully stopped the turrets from shooting at all.
Most likely they only had time to sense a presence in the corridor but not enough time to confirm the target so it did not activate their shooting mechanisms.
The girls looked at me with an odd look, clearly wondering what I saw.
“Automated turrets… Two of them on the ceiling…” I explained, pointing a finger upwards to emphasise my point.
Ries took over my position and took a peek around the corner.
She only moved her head out for a second before pulling herself back in again right as the sound of the turrets’ beeping sound reached us.
“Apex Defense Systems XM Two Seven high calibre defense turrets… Those are military grade too… How is this gang getting their hands on military grade gear?” She wondered aloud.
Wow… She knew what kind of turret it was just by looking at it for a second…

I gave the girls a look, “So I guess we’re really charging in then, huh? There’s no way we can get in through the door without destroying those turrets.”
Ries hefted her light machine gun, “Just the way we expected, Boss! Shall I lead the way?”
Mara then stepped in, “No, allow me, Captain.”
Without an ounce of fear, our resident Psionic stepped out of the corner and into the line of fire for the turrets.
There was the beep coming from the turrets again and she lifted her hand right as they started firing at her.
The bullets that were shot out from the turrest all stopped a short distance away from her palm, all of them losing their momentum.
Mara did not wait for them to run out of bullets and she simply flicked her hand in a shooing motion and all the bullets were flung back to accurately pierce through the turrets, leaving them peppered with bullet holes.
There was a spark coming from one of the turrets before it creaked and dropped down from the ceiling to crash onto the ground.
“Let’s go!” I yelled out, prompting the other girls to charge out of the corner with me.
We ran up towards the single door that marked the entrance of the factory and Mara opened it for us by once again flicking her hand at it.
The door was hit by an invisible force and crumpled up like a piece of paper before it was sent flying back.
It seems like there were guards that had been positioned at the door because a yelp of surprise came from behind the door before whoever was behind it got flung away to smash into the wall, right before the door crushed them.
Leaping past the doorway, I immediately scanned the area behind it for potential threats and to get my bearings.
Seems like the door led to a breakroom or something since there were couches and tables scattered around the place with what looked like discarded synthfood packets dumped on the ground.
There were some thugs who had been taking a break in this room, most of them holding beer bottles or cigarettes while lounging on the couches.
They either didn’t hear the turrets firing outside or the turrets don’t warn the people inside about spotting enemies since they looked completely unprepared for our entry. Heck, some of them didn’t even react and were just staring at us with wide eyes.
I fired the first shot by shooting my shotgun into the abdomen of the first thug closest to me, blasting his stomach open and flinging the poor guy back to crash into a couch, flipping it over.
That started the chaos as a few of the thugs started reaching for their guns but the girls were faster as we started gunning down the people inside the room.
Amber stayed by my side and twirled around like a dancer as she fired her pistols one after the other, taking down a thug with every shot in all directions like she had the entire room mapped in her head.
Lea had sunk into a crouch at the doorway and lined up her shots with incredible precision, taking down at least two thugs with every shot of her rifle before shifting her aim to the next target.
“Nyahahahaha!! Die! Die! Die!!!” Ries laughed maniacally as she held down the trigger for her machine gun, mowing down an entire section of the room.
A few thugs tried to shoot at her but all of their bullets were rendered useless by her shield, which only painted them as a target for her to shift her machine gun fire at.
Then there was Mara who was floating protectively behind me, her hands dancing in the air like a conductor as she flung people and bullets away with impunity.
There were quite a number of shouts of alarm
As for me, I was blasting my shotgun at targets of opportunity, and keeping them from firing back at us.
The moment I see any thug pop out of cover to try and take a shot, a burst of pellets would blast them in the face, sending them flying away.
Heck, even if they were hiding behind cover, I would just switch my buckshots for my slug round and fire through their cover.
The fight only lasted for a minute at most but the room was soon littered with bodies and bullet casings, turning the break room into a scene of carnage.
Right as I started reloading my shotgun, an alarm started blaring through unseen speakers around the room.
Guess they already know we’re here.
Oh well, this changes nothing anyway so let’s start the operation.
What operation? Operation kill everyone here and loot the place clean of course~
