Chapter 371: They Have Big Stuff Here
With the alarms still blaring overhead, we did a quick reload of our guns before we stormed into the next area.
Mara was once again in charge of busting down the door which she did with a flick of her wrist.
The door crumpled up and was ripped from its door frame before it was sent flying inside.
There was a shout of alarm right before it was replaced by a cry of pain which was then quickly drowned out by the sound of something fleshy being crushed.
We rushed through the doorway to see a group of thugs in the corridor looking back at their comrade who was crushed against the wall, his blood painting said wall red as his organs spilled out onto the ground.
All of us needed no words to be said as we lit up the corridor with ballistic rounds.
The hail of bullets and telekinetically thrown objects soon rendered the rest of the thugs as lifeless as their crushed comrade, filling the corridor with the smell of blood.
We did not slow down and started moving down the corridor where several doors were present on either side, checking each one in turn for enemies that might be hiding behind them.
It seems like these were supposed to be bedrooms and the rooms themselves look exactly the same as the room I had woken up in when I had been kidnapped earlier.
Was this factory owned by the same company or is this just the standard of rooms on this station?
Most of them were empty aside from some personal effects that I assume belonged to the thugs around here.
We did find one particular room where it was occupied, though the thug inside it was black out drunk judging by the bottles of alcohol scattered all around the room and the man not even waking up despite the alarms blaring all around the room.
Amber didn’t even hesitate and put a hole through the guy’s head with her pistol before we moved on to check the next room.
After clearing the rooms along the corridor, we were left with the final door that should lead us to the next area of the factory.
Mara came forward once more and, once again, ripped the door from its hinges to allow us to gain entry.
This time, there were no thugs standing behind the door waiting for us and we stepped through to find ourselves in what I guessed to be their warehouse since there were rows upon rows of shelves lined with boxes and tools.
The shelves themselves were tall enough to reach the ceiling and it created a sort of maze for this room with the shelves being the maze walls.
Heck, the shelves aren’t even arranged in a logical fashion either. They formed zigzagged corridors in between the shelves which made no practical sense.
It doesn’t even look like they have some kind of set method to arrange the shelves either, like whoever was in charge of putting the shelves decided they hated their job and wanted everyone to be as miserable as possible.
Either that… Or the thugs themselves moved them to make this maze for some reason.
The fact that the shelves were arranged so close together that we had to walk in a single file made me believe that might be the case here and they did it as a way to impede intruders.
That only made me wonder how they navigated this room themselves? Is there another way through this place?
Deciding that we didn’t have time to waste on looking for another path, we’ll just head on in.
“I’ll take the front,” I decided, hefting my shotgun in my hands.
All the girls turned to look at me with concern.
“Are you sure, Boss? I think I should lead since I have two shields now,” Ries pointed out.
“I think I should take the point instead, Captain,” Mara added.
I raised an eyebrow at them before pointing at my gun, “I have a shotgun… If I’m behind one of you, I might shoot one of you by accident.”
“That’s true… In that case, let Mara follow behind you then, Tera,” Amber suggested.
They agreed on that quickly before they went ahead to arrange themselves behind me.

As Amber had suggested, Mara took position behind me while Amber herself took the third spot.
Behind her was Lea and Ries took the very back in case we got caught in a pincer attack and she could use her shield to tank any enemies appearing from behind.
We started walking through the corridor in between the shelves, keeping an eye out for any ambushes.
The place really was made to be a maze as there were twists and turns and even crossroads in between the shelves so we were forced to slow down our advance through this warehouse.
The alarms were still blaring overhead so this was not ideal for us as I’m sure the thugs would have already prepared themselves and mounted a defensive position by now.
“Wait… You hear that?” Amber suddenly asked.
I stopped and strained my ears to listen for any sounds that she might have picked up.
That was when the ground and the shelves started to rumble right before something heavy started stomping its way towards us.
When I turned in the direction of the sound, I could see the shelves to the side being flung away as something big was barrelling its way towards us.
“Get out of the way!!” I shouted, diving to the side.
The others moved as well but Mara stood her ground, her hands lifting up just as the thing reached us and tried to smash through the shelves to get to her.
The shelf was flung towards her only to suddenly freeze in midair, the entire thing being held up by Mara’s Psionic powers.
The thing that was charging towards us revealed itself to be some kind of mech that had a chainsaw on its left arm and a drill on its right arm while a heavy cannon was mounted on its left shoulder.
It pulled back its drill and the tool spun up with a loud whirring sound before it tried to skewer Mara with it.
She furrowed her brows before swinging her arms to the side, forcing the drill to be diverted to her right to smash into the shelf behind her instead.
Mara then shoved her arms forward and the mech was sent skidding back a few feet.
I then watched as the mech lowered its heavy cannon to point at her, clearly aiming to blast her with it.
Lea fired her sniper rifle and struck the mech in the side, the force of the blow causing the mech to stumble towards the side and firing the cannon at the wall instead.
“A T-Seven Construction Mech! They outfitted it with a shoulder mounted kinetic cannon!” Ries shouted, right before she launched a barrage of machine gun fire at the mech.
Unfortunately, the armour plating on the mech rendered her machine gun useless as the bullets simply bounced off the plating.
Seriously, why the hell do they have a mech like this inside their base?!
I loaded in several slug rounds and fired a few shots at the joints, hoping that it would be enough to disable it.
Unfortunately the mech moved at the exact same time and the slug rounds ended up hitting its armour plating instead and leaving dents but not managing to pierce through them.
The chainsaw on its arm revved up and it swung it towards Mara, the pilot probably recognising her as the biggest threat.
Mara held up her hands and the chainsaw stopped just a few inches away from her, the teeth of the chainsaw still spinning while locked in place.
From how she had her brows furrowed, it was clear that Mara was struggling to keep that chainsaw away from her and the mech pilot took advantage of that by trying to pierce her with the drill again.
Amber had leapt on top of the mech at that moment and fired her pistols into the mech’s shoulder joints, causing the metal to let out a metallic screech before the drill suddenly stopped spinning and the arm stayed frozen in the air.
I took that chance to aim at the other shoulder joint and fired another slug round at it, this time the round piercing through the joint and shutting down the chainsaw.
Another shot from me blasted through the metal that was holding the arm to the body and the chainsaw arm ended up crashing onto the ground with a loud thud.
With her hands free, Mara directed her attention to the cockpit of the mech and clapped her hands together.
I got to watch the metal squeezing together before it suddenly collapsed into itself, crushing the pilot inside the cockpit like a crumpled piece of paper.
Not satisfied yet, Mara raised her hands and the drill was ripped off its shoulder to join the chainsaw to rise up into the air.
She then swung her hands downwards and both the drill and chainsaw pierced through the cockpit, impaling whoever had been inside it.
If he hadn’t been crushed by the metal folding into itself, the pilot surely would have been skewered by those tools.
Damn am I glad that Mara is on our side…
