Chapter 393: Are They Starting A Chain?
We agreed to leave the equipment in a container and dropped it at a specific asteroid for those military guys to pick up, which we did after dropping the Mercs back at the station.
There should not be any witnesses so we didn’t wait around and simply flew off after dropping it.
I was worried that they might not receive it but Mara and Amber assured me that they definitely already had someone watching this area so we didn’t need to worry about it.
After that, we went back to Denibi station to prepare for our trip to the station that we were given the location of.
But then I ended up getting caught up in something else…
I got a call from Tyle the moment I got back to the station asking me to head towards the Guild because there was something urgent that needed my help.
I thought it was simply just another lunch rush that needed me in the kitchens but when I got there…
“Please, Goddess Tera!!” Tyle pleaded while prostrating on the ground.
“We beg you, Goddess Tera!!” The rest of the people behind him followed suit, mirroring his actions.
Ok, so… First of all… I see they changed the way they refer to me…
Secondly, I was only gone for about a day, you know?
Thirdly, why are there even more people here? And it even looks like you have hired or assigned people to be kitchen staff and even took over the building next to the Guild building to turn it into a restaurant of sorts…
Fourthly, I feel like I need to mention this again because I was only gone for about a day, you know?!!
And lastly… What the heck are you even asking of me?!
The moment they knew that I was most likely going to leave this place for a long time, Tyle begged me to help stock them up with fifty boxes worth of condiments.
Not five, not fifteen, but fifty!! One box could have around twenty to thirty bottles of condiments you know?! That’s at least a thousand different bottles of condiments you’re asking me to make here!! Who the fuck even ask that of someone?!
I guess that’s why he’s currently prostrating himself and even calling me a goddess just to appease me or something.
“Why the fuck do you need that many?!” I can’t help but blurt out.
He remained in his prostrating position, “We… We still need more of Goddess Tera’s food if we are to convince the others to join us… But there are more people here than we initially thought and it’s all because the record of people on this station didn’t account for the slum dwellers and squatters… With what we have on hand, we won’t be able to deal with that number by ourselves so the only possible way to do this quickly is to have Goddess Tera cook personally! But since you are leaving… We should be able to make do with just your condiments and then work on cooking the food ourselves! The process will be slower but it should still work… We just need the condiments that Goddess Tera makes!”
“Does it really have to be mine? I thought you could already kind of make it?”
“It’s not the same as Goddess Tera’s!”
Well… I know that’s true because I’ve tasted the ones he made before and there’s a noticeable difference between mine and his…
Like I said before, those who never ate mine would still think his creations tasted good but anyone who had tasted mine would have that unshakable feeling of something was missing but you wouldn’t know what.
No matter how much we tried, we just couldn’t figure out why that was the case.
“But isn’t yours already good enough for the new people who have not tasted my food?” I pointed out.
“They won’t have the same level of devotion, Goddess Tera! Just for this period of time… While we are still establishing a foothold on this station… We need the very best to get them on our side! So please forgive our rudeness when we ask this of you to supply us with them!”
The way he’s begging me is making me feel a little bad already… Like is there really a need for you to be this desperate? Why do you even need this so desperately that you can’t even do it on your own?
And what the heck do you mean by them not having the same level of devotion?!
“Do you really need it to be me?” I asked
“Yes!”

Ughh… That’s still a thousand bottles though… And even if I can make about forty an hour… Assuming I work eight hours a day… It’s still going to take me just over three days to make that number of condiments…
As though reading my mind, Tyle raised his head to look at me with hopeful eyes, “We are willing to negotiate another contract for this! You saw the restaurant beside the Guild, right?”
I eyed him warily, “Yes… What about it?”
“We’re planning to do this on a much grander scale so let’s void the initial contract between Goddess Tera and myself and renegotiate it under the restaurant where you get ninety percent of the profit as long as you provide us a box of the condiments every month! The scale will be much grander and in case we start expanding, you would still get the same percentage and it would be much easier to expand that way too! If Goddess Tera help us with this, we would surely get a big headstart on this venture, I can guarantee it!”
Err… Wait… Are we actually starting a restaurant chain? Because this really sounds like we’re starting a restaurant chain…
I won’t lie, the girls have floated the idea to me before where I could just make a restaurant and just sell the food I cook since it’s obvious that people really like what I make.
The only problem is that I have no desire to just stop my Mercenary career to start as a chef.
That’s also not to mention that if I really want to be what the galaxy considers a ‘professional’ chef, I will need to attend some kind of school to get a certificate first.
And from what I’ve heard from the chefs I’ve met so far, these schools are less than useless.
I’m afraid that I would probably come out worse than I had if I were not to attend such a school.
Anyway, my main goal still hasn’t changed. I want to try and find the location of Earth and see if this is actually a different universe or if it’s the same one and maybe the Earth here is the same one that I had left.
Who knows? Maybe I might even find another me on that planet or something.
That’s why settling down somewhere and opening a restaurant isn’t really something I want to do.
Besides… It’s not like I want to just cook for anybody. Cooking isn’t even that big of a hobby for me in the first place… I’m only doing it because I like to eat good food and the food in this universe sucks so I just have to do it myself.
So now that Tyle is suggesting that he would be able to do it in my stead and all I need to do is just send him some condiments every month. Then I would even get quite a bit of money from this.
“Just to check… How am I supposed to deliver the condiments I make to you?” I asked.
“Oh! You can just look for any station. Most of them should have a GalactaPost branch that can deliver most things anywhere. If not, there’s always the Mercenary guild of course! You could just commission either of them to deliver it!”
“Which one is the better choice?”
“Well… Umm… In our case, the Mercenary Guild might be a better choice to be honest… GalactaPost delivers everywhere but they charge a lot to deliver to outer colonies and anywhere that they deem ‘uncivilised’ since they would need to hire guards to protect their transport ships… For the Mercenary Guilds, the Mercs taking the commission would already be equipped to deal with such routes but… I guess the downside is that a Merc taking the commission isn’t always guaranteed and you might need to wait a while for someone to take it…”
I guess there’s pros and cons for both choices… But at least there’s options I guess…
In that case, I see pretty much no downside to agreeing to his suggestion…
The only problem is that I have to postpone the station exploration until after I’m done fulfilling this food order.
Well… It’s not like the station’s going anywhere or that there’s a time limit for this so I guess there’s really no problem for me to do it.
And since he didn’t really specify any specific type of sauce or condiment he wants from me… I’m also free to experiment~
