Chapter 425: The Stone Pillar
As we approached the giant floating black stone pillar that was hovering in the air, I noticed a few animals that looked a little like cows grazing the pale green grass a short distance away.
They noticed us as well but didn’t even run away and just stayed where they were, probably either that they don’t recognise us as their predators or they don’t have any.
Since they were already there anyway, I just went ahead to do a scan of them with my Codex just to log them as a survey entry for this planet in case we ever come back here.
Turning my attention back on the pillar, I noticed that there were odd markings on the surface of the pillar. Which I suppose wasn’t really that surprising since I kind of have seen these types of things in the game before.
No, not this particular pillar but there’s events where they have special locations that look weird like this just to make the locations in the game more interesting.
Obviously my companions weren’t as used to seeing these sorts of things as I was so they were all looking up at it in wonder.
“What is this?” Amber asked no one in particular.
“There’s markings on it as well, does it mean something?” Mara wondered aloud beside her.
Ries was more interested in the base of the pillar, “How is it floating? Is there some kind of gravity anomaly or is this related to the Psionic thing?”
And then we have Lea who was looking at the grass instead, “Hmm… I wonder if this grass is worth bringing back to cultivate?”
The Psionic Shadows were still clinging onto my shoulder but it was clear they wanted me to approach the pillar as they were pushing and pulling me in its direction.
When we finally reached the edge of the hole, I peered into it and gasped.
At first, I thought the hole was merely just a hole that was dug into the planet’s surface but looking inside it, I realised that it was as if it led to another dimension.
What we saw inside were stars blinking back at us in the darkness that was barely visible through the fog of a nebula hiding them behind it.
It feels like if you were to jump in there, you would find yourself in space or something.
Guess I better take a step back then…
The Psionic Shadows then started jumping around excitedly on my shoulder before they floated away from me to hover in front of me.
They spun around in the air and I took that as their way of thanking me before they flew directly towards the pillar.
Only one of them remained behind and she stretched out her hands towards me with her palms facing upwards.
I guessed she wanted me to imitate her so that’s what I did.
When both my palms were stretched out, she hovered over it and pointed it at the stone pillar.
“Err… You want me to hold that pose towards the pillar?” I guessed.
She nodded before flying away towards the pillar to join her other companions.
Huh… I thought for sure they were going to fly into the hole… Though I guess now I know for sure that this was definitely not the kids’ former homes.
They flew up into the stone pillar and surprisingly, they disappeared into the pillar itself, almost like the pillar was a liquid that they just sunk into.
All of us watched for a moment, wondering if anything would happen especially since they wanted me to hold this pose.
That was when the markings on the pillar started to glow and pulsate before the ground beneath us shook.
It wasn’t really an earthquake but more like just a small tremor so we didn’t really panic. Those cow like animals though immediately got spooked and ran off.
The glow on the stone pillar then intensified before a beam of light suddenly shot forward towards my palms.
I was a little worried that it was some kind of high intensity laser at first until the light stopped at my palm to form into a ball.

The light ball spun above my palms for a moment before it burst in an explosion of light, forcing all of us to shut our eyes.
I then noticed a weight settling on my palm and I almost dropped it in surprise before lifting the unseen weight up.
When I finally opened my eyes again, I realised there was a pile of the Psionic Crystals left on my palm, which was the agreed payment they settled on for taking them here. There were so many of it that some of them had spilled over and fallen onto the ground as well.
Judging from the pile, there must be like at least two dozen or so of those crystals, which meant that I was now holding at least a few million Credits worth of it in my hands.
This already made the trip worth it.
I thought that was over until the pillar suddenly started to move, the entire black stone visibly sinking towards the hole in the ground.
Worried that something big was about to happen, I quickly gathered the Psionic Crystals that had dropped on the ground into my arms before retreating several steps away from the stone pillar.
For something so big, it was moving pretty fast too.
In just a few seconds the entire pillar had sunk into the hole and disappeared completely.
The temptation to peek into the hole was there and I wondered if I should actually go and peek there when the hole started to close up.
Eh? Really? They’re just going to just close up like that? Was this giant stone pillar just waiting for these Psionic Shadows to appear here or something?
Or maybe… It appeared here after they had transformed? Maybe they needed to appear on a planet so we had to travel here to guide them to it?
Guess we’ll never know eh?
Instead of closing completely, however, it stopped right at the size of a manhole and stayed there.
Err… It can’t be asking me to jump inside, can it?
Right as I thought of that, something shot out from the hole.
I realised it was a human sized version of the stone pillar and it spun in place fast enough to create a whirlwind around it.
Black matter then suddenly spilled out of its surface to wrap around it to form a cocoon.
The cocoon then shrunk to the size of marble before it suddenly flew straight towards me without warning.
I instinctively raised my hands to protect myself and the marble shaped black matter went straight for my wrist.
I was prepared for it to hurt but it didn’t so I looked at my wrist to realise that it had formed into a bracelet that was now wrapped around my right wrist.
Eh? What the hell? Why is this here?
I tried to take it off but it seemed to be resisting my efforts and remained stuck on my wrist.
The girls immediately came to crowd around me.
“What happened, Tera?!” Amber asked, concern in her voice.
I showed her my wrist, “I don’t know but… It turned into this…”
Amber frowned and tried to take it off my wrist as well but it remained stuck there, not because my hand was too big for it to squeeze through but it was literally just stuck in place.
“Why?!” Amber cried out, pulling on it with all her might only for it to remain stuck on me.
She tried for a bit more but when it became apparent that she wasn’t able to move it no matter what, she let go of it to frown at it.
“Is this supposed to be a curse or something?”
As if answering her question, the bracelet shook for a moment before the dark matter on it shifted to form a bulb on its surface.
The bulb got bigger and bigger until it was the size of a ping pong ball before it detached itself from the bracelet.
The ball of black matter then reformed itself into a crystal shape before turning into a completely intact Psionic Crystal that hovered in the air in front of me.
…
Oh hey! Look at this really fashionable bracelet that I just got! Doesn’t it look nice?
The other girls seemed to think so too because they immediately started complimenting it.
“That’s such a nice bracelet, Tera~ I think you should keep it!”
“It suits you, Mistress.”
“It indeed is quite nice, Captain.”
“It’s really cool, Boss!”
I scratched my head, “Ehehe~ Thanks. Although… I kind of wished that it didn’t take the form of a bracelet since that can be a little intrusive… Maybe a ring would have been better…”
The bracelet suddenly shook again before melting into a liquid state to flow onto my index finger to turn into a ring.
Oh wow, this is so cool!
