Chapter 433: Cheat Sales Tactics
We decided to take up an escort mission once we were done with our business here. And that business was trying to sell off some of the loot that we got from the research station.
We went back to get some of the loot from the ship and carried them over to the supposed Peddler’s Street where we could sell them.
Just saying, we didn’t bring all the loot we got from the research station with us since I doubt we would be able to sell everything here anyway.
So most of it was still left on the Iridescence and even the pile that we were bringing with us to the street was only a portion of the loot that we had brought in the Verlandi.
On another note, Ries had claimed some of the weapons as materials for rebuilding the Power Armour which I was completely fine with.
We had already took a look at the weapons ourselves but we still preferred our own weapons in the end, aside from Ries who just didn’t find anything that was to her fancy.
When we got to the street, I realised that it was quite literally an open street with nothing else except for people lining up the sides of the streets selling random stuff.
I spotted one particular guy carrying a box towards an empty part of the street and tossing it on the ground.
The box then burst open and a table as well as a cabinet assembled themselves right in front of him.
His companions then started laying out the goods they were selling on it and they were open for business.
What the heck? That’s so cool, I want one!
Ahem… Anyway, the Guild receptionist had very helpfully told us that the only thing required of us to set up a stall here is to just apply for permission to do so on their site and just pay a small fee to rent out a space on the street.
I already knew this station was aiming to squeeze as much Credits out of everyone from everywhere else so I wasn’t surprised to learn about that fee.
At least it wasn’t really that expensive so we just paid for it and went to the allocated space to start setting up our stall.
And by that, I really just mean going to that empty space and uncovering the cloth that was placed over the goods and just waiting for customers to show up.
Unfortunately, I don’t really know what the market price of the stuff we have here is like so I’m basically leaving it to Amber and Lea to do the sales.
I was worried that I was being a burden but the two of them assured me that I was not and all I needed to do was to just stand there and let them deal with the customers.
They mentioned that I was supposed to be the ‘face’ of the stall and that was enough apparently.
I’m not sure what they meant but I trust them so I just followed along.
I was expecting to stay here for a while before anyone even showed up but not even a minute passed after we opened, a group of guys came up to our store and started perusing our goods.
“Hey~ These are some nice guns,” One of them commented, though he shot us a wink for some reason.
Wait… Don’t tell me this guy knows that we got them from the research station? Is he from the military? Do we need to take him out?
Right as I was thinking about reaching for my gun, Amber stepped in with a business-like smile on her face.
“Very good eye, sir. These guns are even being used by the military and are very reliable. We managed to get our hands on them when the military was clearing out their old stock so you might not even see them again after today.”
The leader raised an eyebrow at her, “Oh, really? Then this must be my lucky day. Can I take a look then?”
“Be my guest.”
He picked up one of the ballistic rifles and gave it a thorough look, his companions also picking up one of their own to inspect them.
“Damn… She’s not kidding. I’ve seen these guns before. Custom made too…” One of the Mercs quipped.
The leader turned his attention back to Amber, “How much?”
“Sixteen Thousand Credits each.”

“Twelve Thousand.”
“Fifteen Thousand.”
“Thirteen Thousand.”
“I’m not going any lower than fourteen thousand.”
The Merc looked at the gun again before looking back at Amber, “Magazine and ammo included?”
“Two spare mags and a box of ballistic rounds for fourteen thousand.”
“Deal. We’ll take three.”
Lea immediately started packing up the guns and the requested ammo and magazines before handing it over to the group.
The leader plugged a Credit Chip into his personal terminal before handing it to Amber who then immediately passed it to me.
I slotted that Chip into my Codex and saw the number forty two thousand appear on my screen before nodding at Amber.
“Thanks for your business~”
The group then left our stall, clearly happy with their purchase.
Just as I was about to ask Amber how she decided on the price, another group walked past our stall and stopped, this one being a group of two men and a girl and it was the girl who pulled the men back to come over to our stall.
“Oh my, oh my! What is this stall selling?” She giggled, her eyes looking at me instead of the goods.
Does she want me to explain or something? I’m not sure what to say though…
Thankfully, I didn’t need to because Amber once again slid herself in front of the group.
“Good day! We recently got our hands on some military grade equipment that the UTM was clearing out as old stock so would you like to buy some?”
“Ohhh~ Did you hear that? They are selling guns? Don’t the two of you like guns?”
One of the men rolled his eyes, “Come on, Jessica… We aren’t here to–”
“Shush, shush. How much are you selling them?”
“If you’re interested in the ballistic rifle, we’re running a sale for it at only twenty thousand Credits. We’ll even throw in a spare mag and a box of ammo.”
Eh? Wait… That’s like six thousand Credits more than the previous group, Amber… Isn’t that too big of a markup?
Unexpectedly, the girl giggled and gestured at me, “Oh wow, will she be the one receiving my payment and handing the purchase to me?”
Amber turned to shoot me a look and I have a feeling she is telling me to just go with it.
I nodded, “Of course.”
Without another word, she stuck her Credit Chip into her personal terminal before pulling it out to hold in her fist with her palm facing down.
I stretched out my hand to let her drop it in my palm and her other hand reached forward to hold the back of my hand to guide me under her outstretched hand.
I don’t think I was imagining things when I felt her fingers caress my hand before she dropped the Credit Chip onto my palm.
When I pulled my hand back, I noticed her giggling slightly like she just saw something amusing.
I was a little worried that she was trying to scam us so I quickly slot in the Credit Chip into my Codex and found the number twenty thousand pop up on my screen.
Huh… So there’s no problem after all?
Double checking to make sure that the Credits were indeed added to my Codex, I then wrapped up the gun with the magazines and ammo before handing them to her.
She received them with both hands though she leaned a little more forward than necessary before winking at me.
I have no idea how to respond to that so I just blinked at her before she walked off, a satisfied smile on her face.
Once she was out of sight, I immediately turned to Amber, “What was that?”
She turned to me, “What was what?”
“Why did you sell it to them at that price?”
She grinned and tapped on the side of her head, “I may not be as good as Mara in the mind reading department but I still can do it, Tera~ I just need to be actively concentrating on it to do so. So I know how much they are willing to spend and what needs to be said for them to be interested in buying from us~”
Ok, not gonna lie, I forgot that being able to read minds wasn’t an exclusive skill to Mara but something that Psionics should be able to do…
But… This is kind of a cheat, isn’t it? Amber must have already known that the group of Mercs earlier was already prepared to bargain to that price so she didn’t even need to worry about it.
Psionics are such cheaters…
