Chapter 498: Might As Well Use The Truck
The truck sped down the road and I could see the building up ahead.

“Are you really sure about this?!” I cried out from behind the truck.

Amber let out a chuckle from behind the wheel, “Trust me, Tera! We already have a big gun so we might as well use it!”

Right…

Amber had come up with an idea earlier on the way there that we could simply just make use of this truck to deal with the thugs there.

Rather than having to worry about sneaking in or looking for a way into the building, we would just burst in and kill as many of them as we can while taking advantage of our element of surprise.

I honestly didn’t think that was a good idea but Amber was quite confident that this would be the easiest and fastest way to clear it since the longer we took, the higher chances there were of another gang showing up.

I pointed out that they might call for backup but Amber claimed that if we killed them all fast enough, we would be in and out of there before the backup could even arrive.

Lea didn’t really have an opinion on this and said that she would be fine with whatever I thought was better.

Eventually, I just decided to go with Amber’s suggestion since I also didn’t want to stay here longer than we needed to.

The building was right in front of us and I took cover behind the cab of the truck. Beside me was Lea who had also climbed behind to join me to take cover as well, since she would be sniping people from behind once shit hit the fan.

I peeked over the top and I saw two guards standing in front of the half destroyed bar, one of them staring straight at us with wide eyes as he probably realised what was going to happen. The other one was literally nodding off at his post so he didn’t even realise he was about to die.

Amber floored it and the truck mounted the curb and bounced up the stairs before flying straight into the two guards, the truck smashing them back into the door before crashing through it.

She definitely used her telekinesis for this because none of the debris hit the truck and I didn’t really feel the impact from the truck hitting the door, which meant the door was blown away not because of the impact from the truck.

We flew straight into the building and I immediately grabbed the machine gun, my eyes scanning the area to look for enemies.

I didn’t even need to look that hard because it seems like we had crashed right into them in the middle of having a party.

I guess when you take over a place with lots of alcohol, it’s unavoidable for them to want to indulge in it… But how old is the alcohol in here anyway? This place looks like it’s been run down and out of business for years. Or I guess maybe they just bought more from elsewhere to stock the place.

Ahem… I guess this isn’t the time to think about something like this right now… Less thinking, more shooting!

I swivelled the machine gun to point towards the direction of the door where a crowd of the thugs were still completely lost as to what was happening.

Lining up the sights of the machine gun with the thug on the far left of the wall, I held down the trigger while swinging the gun to the right.

The truck then bounced on the floor and I heard a scream getting cut short underneath so we must have crushed an unfortunate guy while landing.

The bounce unfortunately made me miss a few of the thugs but I didn’t stop and continued pulling the gun towards the side, mowing down the entire crowd of thugs before they could even realise they were being attacked.

Thankfully, I didn’t need to deal with them as Lea brought her rifle up and fired a single round that pierced through the heads of the thugs I had missed.

Seeing that the thugs behind us were completely wiped out, I started swinging the machine gun to the front, my finger still holding down the trigger and mowing down any thugs that were unfortunate enough to be in front of my barrel.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Amber leaping out through the front of the truck before she started firing her pistols all around her, scoring headshots with inhuman accuracy.

I slowly swung the gun to the front and by now, the thugs finally managed to come to their senses and realised they were actually under attack and either tried to return fire or dive for cover.

My shield flared as a bullet bounced off of it from the side.

Lea responded to my attacker immediately as she spun around and sank to a knee while propping up her rifle with her elbow.

The guy with his handgun pointed at me tried to hide behind an overturned table but Lea fired in his direction anyway and her shot pierced through the table. A moment later, the guy fell forward with a distinct bullet hole through the side of his head.

Unfortunately, even she couldn’t deal with all of them as the thugs started returning fire at us.

The bad news was that we were currently in the middle of the bar which placed us in the middle of the enemy.

The good news was that I wiped out the thugs behind and on our left so we only had enemies to our front and right remaining.

And since this machine gun was using high calibre bullets, it could pierce through the flimsy tables that these thugs were using as cover so it didn’t matter where they were.

I take back what I said, Amber! This is the best idea we’ve had today! Look at them! The sound of my machine gun firing was already enough to pin down most of the thugs and make them cower behind their cover!

Click.

Eh?

I looked down at the trigger I was still holding down. Then at the barrel of the machine gun where nothing was coming out. Then at the belt that was feeding into the gun and the very obvious bullet that was jammed at the feeder.

Fuck!!

“It’s jammed!” I cried out, pulling out my shotgun and leaping off the truck to get into cover.

Several of the thugs peeked out from behind their cover when they heard my cry and I immediately fired several shots at them, my buckshot rounds tearing into their faces and blowing their heads off before they could duck down again.

We’ve already cleared out most of the room anyway so this is just going to be an easy cleanup.

That was when I saw a glass container that was filled with fire being lobbed over my head, the container bouncing on the wall before falling behind the area where several of the thugs were hiding behind a half wall.

Amber? Was that really necessary?

That was the thought that was going through my head before an explosion of fire burst out from behind the half wall and turned that entire area into a sea of fire.

Ah, I think she wants to burn down the entire building as well to flush out anyone else that may be hiding in the other parts of the building.

And even if they still chose to hide, her fire would just burn them alongside the building anyway.

“Ahhhh!!! Put it out! Put it out!!” One of the thugs screamed as he stumbled out from behind the wall.

I reacted instinctively by firing in his direction and my shotgun blasted a hole in his chest, blowing him back to crash into the wall.

Before he fell though, I saw that he was quite heavily scarred and half of his face was replaced with cybernetic implants… Which made him look a little familiar for some reason…

Oh wait!! That’s the leader! I need to take a picture of him to confirm his death and complete this mission!

“Cover me!!” I yelled out, rushing towards the dead leader.

I have to take a picture of him before the fire completely burns him beyond recognition!

A few bullets flew past me while some were deflected by my shield which I wasn’t too bothered by since I trusted the shield and my girls to protect me.

I got to the dead leader and hmm… I need to position myself… Err… His notable feature should be his jaw right? Let me use his gun to push his face into the frame… There we go~

I snapped a picture of the leader before rushing back behind cover, only to stop when I realised that Lea and Amber were just standing there watching me and not hiding behind the truck like before.

Stopping myself, I turned back to see that all the thugs were either all dead or dying from being burned or bleeding out from gunshot wounds.

I looked back at my girls and I found Amber holding another of those glass containers in her hand, clearly intent on throwing it and feeding the fire to completely burn the place down.

Wow… Was I slow in taking the photo or something? Or were there fewer thugs than I thought?

Well… I got the photo so I guess let’s get back in the car and burn the place down~
