Chapter 519: The Couple’s Aftermath
“I can’t… I can’t go back to eating synthfood anymore…” Ragbar cried while shovelling my food into his mouth.
“Why… What have we been eating all these years? What do we even eat after this?” Valiea weeped, also mirroring her husband’s actions.
I guess I should have expected this to happen.
But come on! Their drinks are also pretty nice too so this wouldn’t be that big of a leap in taste right?! So they should just think it tastes nicer than what they might usually eat and that should be all, right?!
The couple continued to cry out in their seats while shovelling the food into their mouths, completely oblivious to my thoughts.
Well… Their actions were pretty much a contrast to the girls as they had a look of pure bliss while they slowly chewed on their food, handling each piece like it was something sacred.
Come on, Ries, you can stop staring at that piece of fish on your plate and start eating it already…
Here, I’ll even feed you.
“Say ahhh~” I teased, lifting up a piece of fish to bring it to Ries’s mouth.
She recoiled in surprise until she realised it was me holding the fish to her and she gleefully opened her mouth to allow the piece of fish I was holding to be dropped into her mouth.
“Mnnggh~ So good… So blissful~ Nyaaaa…”
So cute~
“Tera!!”
“Mistress…”
“Captain?”
I turned to see the three girls looking at me with a pleading look on their faces.
Ahh… Ok, ok…
I fed each of my girls in turn and they all had a look of satisfaction on their faces after I was done.
I thought I was done until Amber placed a piece of chicken in between her teeth and leaned over to me, obviously trying to get me to take it from her.
She was even making cute “Mnnn! Mnnn!” sounds and she definitely did not intend for me to grab it with anything else but my lips.
I humoured her and leaned over to take the chicken with my lips, which of course ended up into a kissing session where Amber kissed me deeply and even shoved her tongue into my mouth.
Naturally, that led to the other three also joining in, so I got a slice of fish from Ries, a piece of beef from Mara and a potato wedge from Lea.
And of course, I also got kisses from them after that.
And despite all that taking place right in front of them, neither Valiea or Ragbareven noticed and they were just continuously crying while shoveling food into their mouths like their life depended on it.
Are you two really alright? And seriously, why are both of you that affected…
Thankfully, the rest of dinner proceeded rather normally, if you ignore the fact that the couple just continued to cry after they finished their food as normal…
At least they finished crying after everyone else was done eating so there was that at least?
“So how was it?” I asked, a little redundantly more to make small talk than anything else.
We had relocated to the dining table since my girls were busy cleaning up like usual so it was up to me to entertain our two guests here.
Ragbar sniffed, “It was… The most beautiful thing I have ever tasted in my life…”

Valiea nodded, “I thought that your drinks were already something that were out of this universe, but now I know I was only just experiencing a small fraction of what you are capable of making…”
I scratched my cheek, “Well… To be fair, I have been cooking for longer than I have been mixing drinks. I’ve been just doing it as a hobby before this.”
Valiea sighed, “And of course, you’re going to beat me handily on the challenge next week, aren’t you?”
I simply gave her a wry smile since I didn’t really know what to say in reply to that…
There was one thing that I wanted to ask though…
“Why did you two have such a big reaction to my food? Don’t your drinks already taste that good anyway? And you’ve also eaten organic food as well right?”
Ragbar gave me a pointed look, “Tera… First of all, this is not just drinks… This is food. And I also want to point out the fact that you were doing those really flashy tricks while cooking too. Like… Who does that?!”
I wanted to tell him other teppan chefs who specialise in that but… That’s only in my universe and not here so I just shrugged.
“Second of all… You forget that we also have to taste our own drinks. So we are more sensitive to taste you could say, something like a skill we got. Without that, we wouldn’t be able to make the drinks that we are making.”
Ah… I didn’t think of that.
Ragbar groaned, “I don’t know if I can go back to eating synthfood after this… That was the best meal I ever had in my entire life… Not even the food in the Inner Colonies can compare.”
I paused and turned to him, “You… You’ve been to the Inner Colonies?”
Last I remember, you need a permit to enter the Inner Colonies so it’s not like you could just fly in there anytime you want. So for Ragbar to say that, that means he has a permit?
Unexpectedly, the guy froze up like he got caught saying something he shouldn’t and Valiea was giving him an exasperated look.
He grimaced, “Ah… Shit… I guess the truth is out of the bag now… And I guess there’s no reason to hide this from you anyway after all that you’ve done…”
I narrowed my eyes, “Don’t tell me you’re a noble…”
He let out a roar of laughter, “Ahahahaha!! No way!! Ahahahaha! I’m definitely not a noble! Do you actually think any of those elite snobs would leave their pristine palaces just to walk around amongst us peasants?”
From where I was seated, I could see Mara’s lips curl up into a small smile but she pretended like she didn’t just hear him say those words.
Yeah… There’s a noble right behind you scrubbing the grill right now… But let’s not tell him that.
Ragbar continued with a grin, “Ok, I’m not a noble, but I guess at this point you must have figured that I came from there. In that case, you would be right because I was indeed a citizen from the Inner Colonies.”
I raised an eyebrow, “You’re an Inner Colonist who came all the way out here and chose to live here?”
He nodded, “That’s right. Before you ask, the reason for that isn’t as interesting as you might think. It’s not like I committed a crime and escaped out here or I had some lofty goal or whatever. You see, I was already interested in the culinary arts when I was young so I attended one of those cooking academies to learn how to cook. While I was there, I learned about mixing drinks so I focused most of my studies in that area.”
“Wait… Does that mean you have a cooking license too?” I asked.
“Oh, that’s right. Don’t you? Since you were handling all those organic ingredients after all. I figured you must also be from the Inner Colonies after watching you handle the organic stuff so you don’t need to hide it anymore.”
“Err… Sorry but… I’m really not from the Inner Colonies. I don’t have a cooking license at all.”
He gaped at me, “What?! Then how did you… How did you learn how to cook like that?!”
“Would you believe me if I said I was completely self taught?”
Ragbar stared at me but Valiea let out a deep sigh, “Yes. Yes I would believe you without question.”
That seemed to shake him out of it before he nodded, “Yeah… Now that I think about it. I would too.”
I decided to bring the topic back, “So… You haven’t said why you came here?”
“Oh yeah! I got interested in mixing you see. But I quickly realised that the schools have a really rigid way of teaching this. They tell you what you can do and what you cannot do and guess what? Flair mixing was one of the things they said that we cannot do! Well… In hindsight, it could have just been the school I was attending that had that rule but I decided that I would just get out of there the moment I got my license!”
“Wait… So the moment you graduated… You just got a ship and flew out to the Outer Colonies? Just so that you can do flair mixing?”
“Hell yeah! I figured the bars in the Inner Colonies wouldn’t hire me anyway so I might as well try my luck out here instead. At first it was just to try out, you know? I figured if it didn’t work, I’ll just get on another ship and fly back into the Inner Colonies. But then it was out here that I learned that you could do anything! I was free to experiment! And I would even be encouraged to do it! So I stayed and eventually found my way to this station where I met my lovely wife!”
He leaned over and kissed Valiea on her cheek and the woman tried to act nonchalant but there was a hint of blush on her cheeks.
He turned back to me, “And then I guess you know the rest. We started a bar which then later evolved into the club. That’s about it.”
Well, his journey was certainly less impactful than Amber’s or Mara’s I guess, but that’s still nice.
